USPS to prohibit international mailing of Lithium Batteries

The prohibition doesn’t include packages containing lithium batteries when mailed in the U.S. using domestic commercial air or ground transportation.

Just one more reason for manufacturers to move out of country.

Big oil gas nothing to do with this. The problem is chinese battery manufacturers shipping batteries illegally with poor packaging. I have read that companies like dhl and ems I having problems with this. Shippers in china mark the battery as " gift" with no hazmat labels to get through customs. I'm sure many people on this forum can contest to this.

I am burning up inside with rage.

Order the motherload now, guys.

I wonder if they are just referring to air shipments?

In the article, they refer to air travel multiple times.

I think hobbyking needs to reconsider supplying the USA warehouse better. Of course the RC community buys more packs from us, but it doesn't hurt to have 5S 6S and 8S (compact) packs in the US :D. I wish they had the compact stocked in the USA that way it will make my life easier when ordering. In all honestly I don't feel cool with paying 55$ of shipping for 2 8S packs.

I kind of did buy the motherload a year and a half ago, worring a bit about this issue. It worked good for me at the time to carry lots of capacity to the track, rather than depend on a fast charger working. Well, that was my excuse anyway.

But the reality is, lithium batteries are not going away. But you might end up paying more in the future for properly packaged and labeled shipping. Though cheap, "it's a gift" shipping is nice, I don't like getting "that look" from my mailman either.

What I really want to see, is a nice selection of turnigy and zippy batteries nice and cheap in my local walmart. Tons of shit in the walmart is hazmat, but doesn't cost you a ton to go buy it.
