I bought this bike secondhand, I'm not impressed with the speed or range of the bike, Im going to get 1-2 ping 48V 20AH batteries and a new controller (crystalyte?),

I want to know about the abilities of this tiny motor, I have no respect for it whatsoever...

If I hook up a new 48V controller (old ones only 36v 10A continuous) and my new pings... Will this motor bring me to 40Kph or will it start to smoke?? Any opinions? And why do they call it a "350W" motor??

350W is a power rating. A little less than 1/2 HP. It is rated by the maker and is probably the maximum rating which can only be used for a short period of time before it melts.

I have a couple of 350W 36v hub motors and I have been running them on 48v 20A for some time now without any problems. these were originally in 20"rims and when running on 36v would do around 16mph, on the 48v its more like 22mph Im more than happy with the my 350W hubs :D
