Hello, all you Vancouver sleuths! Please find out more about who acquired the assets of this important energy storage company and what they intend to do with it:
http://www.newswire.ca/en/releases/archive/April2009/29/c6685.html
Was it Chevron? A company with a great and important part to play in energy storage has failed due to lack of working capital!

Day-um. That's a wide net-income/operating-cost ratio. It makes me think that management either seriously sucked or their industry did. What industry are they in anyways?

JD Holdings inc aquired all the assets, including the intellectual properties.

"Prudent Energy is a privately held company based in Beijing China, which is wholly owned by JD Holdings in the Cayman islands. The Company designs, develops and is commercializing the VRB energy storage technology to support stable, reliable and efficient electricity grid operation as well as the integration of large scale renewable energy."

It's not oil soaks you need to be concerned with. Forget EXXon. It's so yesterdays industry. The world is moving on.

If you want a bagaboo - watch mainland communist China. If electric powered anything is in your future, then the Chinese have the single most effective strategic approach on the planet, especially when it comes to renewable and alternative energy. They are aquiring key intellectual properties with a co-ordinated determination. Snoop a little with Google.

When one buys a product like batteries, especially where lot's of $$$$$$ are involved, it's always worth considering the wider consequences. Buy Canadian, or American, and our populations will have work, buy China, and they don't.

Zoonds Sirah! Thou casteth the aspersion of paranoia on me!
Nay! I merely read the following:
"A flow battery system is being proposed for the Santa Rita Jail in California. This project is a
partnership with the jail, PG&E, Chevron Energy Solutions and VRB Power Systems. The
objective is to develop a Microgrid demonstration project that includes a VRB flow battery.
This project proposal was submitted to DOE for funding in July 2007."
And wondered why the Oil Company was interested and if they were going to back VRB Power Systems in their time of need!
Tut! Tut! Sirah!
Buy up to shut down!
Never!

Well spotted swbluto; Isn't that just the profile of a high-tech company during it's research and development phase? Unfortunately, in these credit-crunch times they are very vulnerable. You need an oil-company to step in! One with a long-vision like BP was when they poured all that money into developing solar.

I want one of these:
