Yo. I have a semi recumbent cannondale easy rider here.
I know that a 16" tire fits a 20" rear wheel..
But the bike has a 16" bike size front wheel.
Would the equivalent tire size in scooter/moto be 14" or what?

Unfortunately, I don't think any moto tire will fit. As far as I know, 16" moto -> 20" bicycle is the only magic crossover size.

16" bicycle rims and tires are referred as ETRTO size 305mm, which is exactly 12".

That makes sense because it's a 4" difference between 16 and 20, so it should be 4" difference between 16" and the next size, 12".

and 20" in motorcycle tire fits 24" bike wheels, right?

Well, apparently there is a difference in fractional tire width and decimal tire width, so the decimal is 305mm but there's a fractional (16 x 1 3/4) that's 317mm and that's 12.5 inches, which is the tire on the Razor MX650 and MX500. I've been at least content with those tires. And the 24" fractional being 507mm. That ought to get the Stealth crowd unshrouding.

Damn, the 26" decimal taking a 559mm, IS there a 22" motorcycle tire? Vintage bikes, I'm sure I've heard of this but it's not coming up when I search.

If that's true, myself and a bunch of other Stealth owners would be very interested to know.

Cheers

yes because 24" bicycle rims actually have 20" bead seat diameter, you can fit a (vintage) 20" motorcycle tire.. but they are no longer produced and therefore expensive and hard to find..

They are coming back. You should see a choice of 20" front MX tires next year. Dunlop and Goodyear availaible already. Looking like MX racing is switching from 21 to 20 front.

Awesome, will have to keep my eye out. The only decent off-road choice till now has been the Duro, but it wears so fast you have to change it every ~2000km at least.

Cheers

After more searching, it does seem like 12.5" is the size for this wheel. Glad i didn't take just one person's word.

Finding a half decent motorcycle tire in the 12.5" x 2.0-2.5 range is proving awfully difficult. Most tires are designed for strollers and other super low speed applications.

I may go with an ebike specific tire instead. Still looking.

16" X decimal size bicycle wheels are 305mm BSD. That's what you have. A 12 inch motorcycle tire would hypothetically fit on your rim. Check the tire you have. It will be marked something like 16x1.9" (customary size) and 50-305 (ISO size) on the sidewall.

16 X 1-3/8" bicycle tires are 349mm BSD. They're less common, but seen on a few folding bikes and recumbents.

12.5" would be about 317mm. The only bicycle wheels ever made in that size were a few children's models by Schwinn back when it was an American company with a handful of proprietary wheel diameters. There is no chance that your Cannondale is equipped with that size.

The tire is marked 40 / 305.

I'm off to a scooter shop to help decode the mystery.

Looks like a 12" is actually the ticket per a quick visual comparison at the scooter shop.

If you want the 12.5" that's the Razor MX 650, which has haeld up for me. Or am in making a mistake? Not even home to check. This says it's 12".

This one says it fits and it's 12.5.

Yeah generally the formula is to subtract 4 inches from a bike tire to get the motorcycle tire equivalent.

There are a couple exceptions with oddball sizes.
