brand new to ebiking. just mounted a front wheel brushless hub motor onto the fork. tighten screw and torque arm. shouldn't the wheel with hub motor spin like a regular wheel? I tried to spin wheel but will not spin. Did I do something wrong?

Are your phase wires touching/shorting?

Most Geared hub motors will spin better than a Direct drive motor but neither will spin as good as a regular bicycle wheel. My geared would only spin around 3 or four times on it's own, when spun by hand, at first. It's much better after 10K miles but still nowhere near the stock bike wheels. If it won't spin at all yes the phase wires as stated above also check that you are spinning it in the right direction if it is a geared unit.

There's no detail to let anyone try and help.
Do you mean it doesn't spin at all, or just a revolution or two? Is it brushless? Does it happen when switched on, switched off, or both? Anything else?

New installs "will not spin" have happened by using screws that are too long to mount a disc brake rotor onto the side of the motor.

Geared hub, or direct cdrive?

geared hubs should spin free forward, but not backward. However, a common mistake is to use the screws that came with the disk brake to mount the disk, which will jam the motor up. Many geared motors need shorter disk mounting screws because of their tight internal tolerances.

A direct drive won't spin free. the cogging effect of the coils and magnets will cause it to spin 1-3 revolutions and then stop. when you're actually riding, you should hardly even notice that drag, but it feel supprising the first time you try it.

If it won't make it a whole revolution, then it's probably a shorted coil, or something physically rubbing on the motor.
