Where to put the battery

But even a blind person would agree that you have much more problems when you are forced to a emergency brake @80km/h with the battery mounted like you have.

Obviously you was never being in the situation of a real emergency brake wher every cm brake way counts.
And yes i have self tryed multiple wights 2-12kg on this position and more than 2-4kg i would not recommend for fast ebikes!

Emergency stops are one of the very first tests done on any of the 100's of ebikes I have built, spanning pretty much every layout possible and every motor available, since the beginning of this hobby. It looks like you believe that your armchair engineering trumps tens of thousands of miles of Practical Experience across many dozens of riders here, and hundreds of thousands of riders in Amsterdam who regularily put way more than 2-4kg there, and a century of delivery/cargo bikes that put massive weights in the front. Judging by the vectors in your artwork, you must ride an interesting bike where the front end lifts in a hard stop, instead of diving into the front suspension. I'm sorta skeptical, so let's see some pictures of your front-mount builds where you "tried multiple weights 2-12kg" and maybe we can figure out where you went wrong. 8)

Oatnet I "have" to see the snocat/ er bike in action..

Thanks torker! My Dune Buggy conversion (link in signature) sorta preempted that build and has been consuming all my project time, but I hope to get some snow video this winter. :D

Hello Carlos and welcome to E-S. I ride a Steintrike Mad Max and have the A123 pack split into 2 x 6s Amp 20 below the seat in a lexan holder. Handling is fine this way since the batts are right below my butt. Putting the batts on the rear rack really makes the handling terrible, and my rack is rated for 50 kilos! Solid steel and made by the same folks who make the trikes. The trike is in my Sig but if you want more details I'll post a few pictures.

Hi otherDoc

Thanks for your reply !
Thank you for sharing a couple of pictures about the subject ! I look forward to it !
Hate the winter months immobilizing the trikes for months. Do you know about any indoor training stand for trikes ? I found the universal solution of StreetStriders featured as " The Indoor Package " top for trikes ! What do you think about ?

Have a nice day !

Hi,

I'm building a cargo bike and I'd like to maintain as much 'stealth' as possible. I have bought a 36v/20ah Ping. My purchase was based on range, speed etc but I've since realised that this might 'brick' may not be the best size and shape to carry on the bike! It does however fit very nicely into my old Carradice saddle bag with a bit of extra padding and coroplast. I'm going to give this a go. I plan to leave the battery on the bike all the time and will make the bag more secure with some sort of support from underneath and with zip-ties over the straps.

I wondered if anyone else has tried this approach?

Savvas.
