World’s first 1 megawatt raceEV to compete at pike peak

Now that remember me the epic "Real Genious" movie in 1985..

When the scene where The Mayor of the university said: "I want 5 Megawatts by the end of this trimester" .. when talking about the laser they work on... ( one of my favorite movie after BTTF)

Now i just imagine a remake of that movie in 2016 but with an Racing Electric Car instead of big killer laser!!!

i don't mean to take any credit away from rimac and the amazing work they do but it seems like a common misconception that they have designed and built their own motors which i don't think is the case.

The spec says the motors are from Yasa

check out am racing if you haven't heard of them before. they have close ties with many well known electric manufactures: http://www.amracinginc.com/#!partnerships/cb8v it seems that they design and build the motors...but maybe rimac has done some work of their own, although the two look very similar.

They all use Remy's High Voltage Hairpin motor cores, designed in 2009, the same used in the BMW X6 hybrid, for example

9 minutes 7 seconds to the top. http://livetiming.net/ppihc/?Class=

Won by Rhys Millen who wasn't completely happy as he lost power from the rear motor pack before half way up. He reconned he could have done a 8:38 minute lap... 8) :

So PPIHC will become sort of an RC car race for grown ups

I'm so happy electrics took 1 and 2 this is awesome!
In my head I'm dancing in the streets!

Man, I was quite confused until I looked at the results and realised you guys are talking about two different cars.

The Monster/Rimac beast is running 4x Rimac motors NOT Yasa. The eO entry is the one running the two triple stacks of Yasa's.

Sudden Hail storm closed the top section. Had to plow it off and wait for the pavement to dry a bit as well as make some room at the top for finishing cars. Parking lot was full and no one could safely come down for a bit. It could have been much worse. Just one of those things a few miles high in the atmosphere. Cleared enough to dry the lower sections. At least they were able to let folks remaining run part of the road.

So a change of conditions invalidates ALL runs !?
I can understand cancelling runs for safety etc, but to invalidate previous run times is ridiculous !
Who makes the call, ?
What conditions dictate such a call..hail ?, snow ?, rain ?, damp, cloud ?, cold ? Low blinding sun, ??
Most race events, it's luck of the draw if your qualifying run, or individual time on the track, is affected by changed weather conditions,
