Zeus brand batteries

I could have swore there was something either here or on the V about those. I think they gave terrible performance.

I got these when I bought my bike off craigslist. The guy said he just bought them in order to sell the bike. They lasted a little over a month on a 12 mile round trip commute :( Not recommended.

I did a search here and couldn't find any info. Thanks for the info though. I almost ordered three of them today. That's why I love this forum.

Sorry PowerCell batteries (Zeus) should not be used for scooters. This is their message:

Hi Chloe

I do not wish to call you at this time, because of how early it is right now. I always fear I may wake someone up if I call to early in the morning.

Our engineer does not come in for about another 30 minutes. However, I am able to provide some feedback now that I know the application.

Based on the information you just provided, that you are looking to replace deep cycle batteries, our cells will unfortunately not work for your scooter. Our SLA batteries are mainly meant for standby applications and not high capacity / deep cycle use.

If you wish to return the batteries for a pay pal credit, please advise so I may provide you with an RMA number for return. I am sorry that at this time our cells are unable to fit your needs.

Thank you,

Kim Aiello

The brand new batteries were weak and would not hold a charge under load:

My company uses Zeus batteries on a regular basis for our UPS back up systems, I also use them for my home systems. Their sales and engineering team at their facility are extremely helpful, and very informative.

Based on information their chief engineer provided us with, their SLA batteries are designed for UPS units, medical equipment and emergency lights. Scooters require high discharge / capacity material which is not provided by their company and will be able to handle the application.

I have seen this Zeus "minimoto" 36V SLA advertised on ebay, surely IT is designed for deep cycle use :|

It should be somewhat lighter than 3-12V/12AH batteries as well. I could not find a data sheet for this specific battery on their website however.

My sister in law has purchased this cell for my nephews Minimoto toy, and has not had any issues. I think she has had this battery for several years, and it gets a lot of use. Perhaps this is an exception, but I know the 9Ah cells are not meant for scooter applications.

Like I said earlier, they are very easy to talk to regarding questions and are very helpful.

Lot of different types made by each manufacturer. The emergency power ones have tempting prices, but they sure aren't for EV's.

I bought (4) 12ah Zeus for my bike in June and put 125 miles of joy riding on them with no problems so far 8)

I don't use my bike for commuting and that may make all the difference in they're performance

At about $20 each, I wouldn't expect to much performance, after all, you get what you pay for :!:

If I were commuting I would definitely go with the more robust B B brand batteries
