New job with a Tough commute.

Smart move on Jasons part. Over the years i've been mostly lurking here - no single person has more effectively comunicated the basic concepts of ebiking more consistantly, reliably and congenially than you have. YES. A well deserved opportunity.

    wallmart fatty

Being that I cant afford a bafang bbs02 just now -- and having a couple of spare motors and controllers hanging about --- I'm gonna try to do a dual motor build on one of these. The hubs motors are both lowish power things. DD 2807 hub on the rear, and a geared hub on the front. 16s...

    R.I.P. le Béte

I'd try welding it back together with an oxy/acetylene torch and maybe steel plates sandwiching either side of the break. Lace up a new rear wheel and keep on going.

you are looking for charger that charges to 41 or 42 volts. These are Lithium ion batteries and 10s (in series) this guy would work. http://www.amazon.com/VeriBest-36V-2A-Smart-Charger/dp/B007NHWDC6/ref=sr_1_7?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1378238038&sr=1-7&keywords=veribest+charger just make...

    lifepo4 cell group reverses voltage?

generic 26650's i got used a couple of years ago. been good in service. not high c cells. Yes, will have to cut in a new parallell group. I put this pack together from other funky packs - so this isn't new. Just a pain. i didn't leave the controller on. cell groups 2 . . 16 remained...

    lifepo4 cell group reverses voltage?

Just hauled out one of my bikes that has a 12s lifepo4 battery connected to a signal lab bms (red blinkey led type). The first cell group is MINUS 1.5v, and all the others around Positive 3.2 - 3.3 v. how can this happen?

grunting at start - lyen sensorless

Well I can't discount the melted wire at the solder joint inside the motor possibility. But the reason I laced up this new motor (with bad halls) i had on hand was because I'd messed up wires at the axle just like you indicated. Xtracycle bag flopping over the unprotected wire at the axle. duh.

grunting at start - lyen sensorless

I seriously checked each and every connnection. Funny thing is that if i baby the throttle on start up it runs almost normally. But I jam the throttle open like usual, and it gags. Especially with 2 kids on the back. It also gags when I change grade from flat - to up hill. I'm...

grunting at start - lyen sensorless

I have a lyen 6 fet mini monster sensorless controller that I've been using for over a year . As of yesterday it has starting grunting and hammering the motor on start up, but once up to speed a bit - is still working fine. I've checked all the connections and they are good. Any ideas on...

Has anyone used front rack/boxes to balance battery w/ hub?

BMX style handle bars work pretty well as a mounting structure for an ammo-box battery. I mount a piece of 1/2" plywood to the front of my handle bar w/ u-bolts and just use a small ratchet strap to hold it there, whether it's the ping 48v15ahr or some other rectangular object. takes a little...

Lacing a HT into a 26" rim - flexed spokes - problem solved

You might consider buying a round file whose diameter is a bit smaller than the spoke hole, then - while leaving the whole wheel strung together - remove spokes one by one and run that file for a few strokes through the nipplehole. You can sight a line down the direction of the spoke engagement...

400W for 12mph: Why is my bike so inefficient?

& if nothing is getting hot, then power isn't being wasted and we are back to being suspicious about the Rshunt number programmed into the cycle analyst giving the overstated power usage value.

    Preparing for long slow tour

I made up a pair of xlr to anderson connectors that lets me convert the chargers xlr output to the anderson discharge plugs on the battery. That way i can use the charger in any location (and for different batteries i have hanging about). be sure to use your volt meter to check polarity...

    Preparing for long slow tour

You could just get a second charger for your ping and plug that in where the controller gets fed from. I often do this with both the signallab v1 and v2 types of bms's. Just don't walk away for too long - because the bms can't shut off that second charger. an hour of charging mid-day - say...

Do your circuit breakers ever trip from vibration?
