Serengeti Panther electric scooter - use for parts

FYI, here is what your Serengeti scooter looks like naked. Another FYI, the drop fork is 6 5/8" (168 mm). Good luck with modification. Enjoy

Serengeti Panther electric scooter - use for parts

Forgot to mention about the "keys". There are original ignition keys (2 of them come with the bike). Only one is needed to operate. The other is a copy. It is somewhat tricky to use. It is required to open the seat. I think the issue with the original keys is the head of the keys has an octagon...

Serengeti Panther electric scooter - use for parts

I got one also. Had it for a while, and it has only 15 miles on it. Most of it I used Human-Push-Power (HPP) to get back home. I am the guy with the endless-sphere viewtopic mention by Dauntless. Battery pack a big problem. Finally I got a great guy to build the perfect battery pack (lithium)...

Hi Guys: I have one of those Serengity Panther (48V, 15 Amp, Lithium). I had battery problems out of the box. After extensive effort to get the battery to work correctly from suggestion on this forum I gave up. It never did work.Since then, the cycle is just a heavy paper weight in my garage. It...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi Sam: I'm the one who should "give-up". Although, it is not my motto. In any case, If you are stump by my results then I am certainly lost. I was not sure if 13Ah was a good result but, you seem to confirm it is. I was also surprised the cell lasted this long (6.5hrs) with little amp drop...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi: The battery cell is rated at 3.2V 15Ah. Is the 13Ah good, bad, or ugly? I already know my BMS is shutting off. It has happened several times on me while riding. What I do not know is who (battery cell) is causing it? And why? Any way I look at it, my pack is not good as 100% capacity...

    Battery cell pouch

    Hi: I finally got time to test the single battery cell #15. As indicated I used a 12V, 50W bulb. Problem, I ended up with 0.4V, 0.00Amps after 8hrs 30min. It took a lot longer than what I though. Here are the results from the first 6hrs 30min: 1:26PM -- 3.6 V -- 2.016 Amps 7:56PM -- 3.2 V --...

    Battery cell pouch

I am not understanding? One person says "yes it can be done" and another says "no it cannot"??? I do understand on your method of explanation and would do it. Personally, as a beginner, I feel more secure doing small steps with the tools I presently have available. I will look back over the...

    Battery cell pouch

Thanks SamTexas. The word "average" was the key word missing in my mind. I am delaying the purchase of a Turnigy until later (Xmas dented my pocket book. Presents for others is presently more important, for now). I do have two multimeters and will take the time for testing one battery cell at a...

    Battery cell pouch

I have read and re-read your posts. Given what I understand from all your posts, I will be doing the capacity check soon and need confirmation on some details you gave me. The measuring instruments I will be using are two multimeters to keep track of the voltage/amps and do the calculation: On...

    Battery cell pouch

After my posting I did see the site, contacted them, and still have no response (~2 months). But thanks for the heads up. Thanks for the reply to the battery pack replacement option. I was not aware you could use one less cell. I was thinking in the order of increasing the amperage on a new...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi: I have been reading about "how to battery-capacity-testing". A lot of unknown Mumbo-Jumbo. Given the battery voltage is not constant! When you attach the load, the battery voltage will slowly drop as the battery drains. Is there a way to use a constant-current load. Where such a load will...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi: I did another try till the bike went dead and checked each cell pouch immediately thereafter. The only low cell was "my number 15". It read 2.90V while all others were at 3.2V. I am surprised the whole thing shut off completely very so little voltage drop. How does one do "capacity check"...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi Guys: I have recharged the battery and went out again riding. The same happen, after about 2 miles the scooter shut down. I walked it back home and checked the battery. Each cells were reading within 3.1 to 3.3V at a total of 49.5V. The battery was not hot and no burn marks. Maybe the battery...

    Battery cell pouch

I'm back. I took my first long ride on the motor scooter.I live in a mountain area with lots of short rolling hills. The scooter really struggles up hills. I got to 2 miles and the motor just quit (stopped, no juice going to it). I started to walk it back home (2 miles back). After about 15...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi dnmun: I got the resistor soldered and I tested the voltage coming out as 55.4V as the math predicted. My soldering technique is sloppy (bad iron) but, it got it done. As usual, thanks a ton for the help. Regards JJ

The salute belong to "dnmun" (amazing guy). I am only plunging in without knowing how to swim. I have taken so many gulps of water I feel like I am drowning (just one more stroke...). Hi dnmun: Thanks for your proposition but, do not bother looking for the resistor on my account. I was able to...

    Battery cell pouch

Sorry to seem dumb but, which one would be R2? Is the R20 (next to R29) or the top resistor (just above R29, slightly to the left)??? I would guess it is the one next to R29. And it needs to be changed to a 109 Ohms. Am I correct? Tomorrow, I am out to buy the 109 Ohms resistor. Thanks. Regards JJ

    Battery cell pouch

I did as you said, used a jumper to by pass the resistor R29 at ~63 Ohms. First, I did unsolder one of its lead. The voltage output with the jumper is 56.5V. It seem to work as you said. And I assume it is very good? Do I keep it this way or replace it with another resistor? Thanks a lot for all...

Shorting out a resistor with a wire??? Now, you are scaring the willies out of me. How do I know I will get 55.81V? Should it not be replaced with another Ohms resistor? I would be willing to buy one from you if you would like. Do you have a PayPal account? I would be willing to take on the...

    Battery cell pouch

Hi dnmun: I had some time to put the bike back up together, zip shut the battery, and gave the bike a try. It works wonderfully. The battery seem to keep its charge. FYI, I have a very steep climbing driveway of approximately 30 ft to get out, and a steep declining road, going away from home...
