Progress! I got the chain today. Actually, I got the second half of the chain today. I got a special chain for it, and it ended up being too short. Long bike is loooong. I'm still waiting on the brake cable attachments and a caliper so no brakes yet. (
Edit. The y just showed up in the mail) But I got the chain on, and what better way to test the chain line than to ride it?
This thing is a beast. No power yet, thats a long ways off still but pedal power was fun. I guessed at the gear ratio when I got parts, but it was a good guess and I think I'll keep this ratio. 36 front, 22 rear. I can pedal the bike for a good ways just fine. Not very fast... but its heavy, slight hills take real effort, and there is zero room for multi gears, so it's a one speed.
It rolls good, but it handles like a jeep on huge tires. If I steer to fast, the front skids, at 5 mph. these Giant tires are s#!t for handling, but then handling was never the point. I don't have to steer around things, I'll roll over them. And I tried that over a few curbs. The bike eats them up.
1st pic is before the chain went on. Second pick is with one of my old racers just to put some scale on this thing. The chain is on, and the front rotor.
That front rotor is a 9 inch, BTW. 230mm looks tiny on this bike.
