I am hoping to keep it 10 speed.It is a 2013 BH Neo Jumper that I changed to 48 volt.I am installing a 3000 Watt 72 volt motor.

Which motor. Assuming you have 135mm dropouts, direct drive motors can only accommodate 7 speeds, whether cassette or freewheel. A 3000w hub often may only accommodate 3 to 5 speeds due the wider stator width. Do you have a link to the motor?

It's from Alibaba.You can not get any info from the sales person.I guess I will wait till I get the motor before ordering a freewheel for it . I really like the 10 speed but it is what it is
If your are going to run the motor at 72v, you won’t be shifting much. I only shift a couple times a year just to make sure it still shifts, but not for riding, and just keep in in the highest gear for normal riding.

I am building a 60 volt battery for a 1000 watt motor.But with 48 volt & 40+ amps it's pretty quick.I don't like not pedalling

James340, you must have the build experience to know pedal assist is like an on/off switch on big ass motors. Unless you plan to not use PAS and ride with pedals/throttle. Then you're fighting the magnets on a dead direct drive motor.
Sunracer has a 10 speed freewheel though, and I believe it's 41 mm wide, 10mm wider than most 7 speeds. The known issue is it's a bad idea to spread an alloy frame. Hate to see you break a nice bike like the BH Neo,

It's a 10 speed bike. Has a 10 speed cassette on the geared hub motor. I want DD motor because of the Arizona sun&nylon gear.

I have a temp sensor in my mid drive motor.Just from the Sun it was 51 Celsius.From what I have read 60 Celsius and the gears fail.
Add Statorade to the DD hub and you won’t have anything to worry about.

Is the 3000 that much bigger than 1000?This is confusing because Alibaba merchants don't give me any information
A MXUS 1000W motor is 13lbs, and the 3000W motor is 22lbs, so that's a lot of added weight.
You could get a 1500W Leaf hub motor if you want to hotrod it. It will be lighter than the 3kW motor, and efficiency is pretty good (less heat), and would be pretty fun at 60V (I tested 14S through 22S. 18S suited my riding best, but 20S is more common so that's what I decided to use in the end). The most I've run through it was 7kW, but some folks push it harder.

I'm not certain I am understanding this. My Grin All-Axle DD accommodates my 10-sprocket cassette just fine.

Most means the stuff he's shopping for on places like Alibaba. Grin is an exception.
If you get a hub motor with a cassette instead of freewheel then you could probably remove 1-2 of your gears and just slip the thing on. Use the limit screw on the derailleur to prevent going into the last 1-2 gears.

Most motors are designed to easily handle up to 100c. Controllers with temp monitoring are typically set to fallback at that and cutoff at 120c. At, least, that's what I've found in geared & dd hubs -- maybe mid-drives fair a bit differently. Regardless, according to wikipedia, nylon doesn't melt till 200-300C ranges.
I think it's fair to say that if "the nylon gears melted" was an actual problem, they wouldn't be getting made into motors and sold around the world for decades now.

8, 9, and 10 speed cassettes are all the same width, 4mm wider than 7 speed cassettes.

I asked the manufacturer the weight.3000 watt kit is 14 kg 1000 watt kit is 11 kg.I have a 1000 watt motor from them I bought a couple of years ago.
That would be unusually heavy. Link? Maybe you mean pounds? 6-6kg would be average, Grins all axle is 4kg.
