9pin f/m cable are they all the same ?

trying to switchover the controller/battery pack from one smartmotion urban city to another but found
the 9 pin cable that connects from controller to the display having a different plug. The difference is just
in the plastic shape of the plug but they are not compatible.
Is there a reason ?
If i buy a 9 pin cable from aliexpress that seems to have the same plugs as my first bike will i run into problems
or is a 9 pin cable simply a 9 pin cable, no hidden tricks ???

I can think of at least three different 9-pin cables. Sometimes the pins are in rows, sometimes kind of equal around a circle, sometimes there are three bigger pins for motor phase cables... Definitely not all the same.

Is there a reason for not just switching over the display, along with the battery and controller?

Edit: For some displays that may look identical, the manufacturer may use one type off connector for a UART version of the display (and controller), and another shape for their CAN bus version (e.g. Bafang and Tongsheng).

Yes, this is indeed the plan to bring battery, controller and display across. The one and only cable that is not identical
is routed inside the frames of the bikes and I am a bit reluctant to get the cables out . The holes in the frame seem a bit small and I am a bit scared to end up with 2 useless units with stuck cables. I was going to swap the pack rack of the boy-bike over with battery and controller, connect everything up and then the final cable guided outside along the frame to make a test. Then when everything works of course for the final assembly the cable can be ripped out of the frame and the new one pulled inside.
I need to give up on the male bike (which is the better bike) and change to step through bike because of my skeleton is not playing balls anymore.

P.S. I also treat the whole exercise as an occupational therapy i am mid 70s

Sorry to say, but that cable is for controller to motor. You can see three of the pins are larger for the three phase lines:

Now my "last hope" is that they are using the same photo for just about everything ........if not, I will just have to bite the bullet and swap the 2 cables over.

Too bad you can’t post a pic of the connector from the bike you’re trying to match or the display. I’m guessing it’s a 9 pin HiGo main cable, but who knows. It’s unusual to have a 9 pin cable for a display. Usually those main cables branch out to the display and other components (brake switches, etc.), so your setup is interesting.
