Hello my name is Ray & I am a new forum member living in Tucson, Arizona.
We have a Charge brand City bike purchased online 5+ years ago. A few weeks ago this bike(my wife's bike) just stopped to propel itself while out on a ride.
I contacted the seller Chargebikes.com and they suggested that the throttle is possibly bad and I purchased that part (~$50) and replacement did not resolve problem so I put original back on. Contacted them again and they suggested the display may be bad, I then ordered that part, replaced it and it did not resolve problem, so I put original back on. At this point their suggestion was to replace the e-controller, however they DID NOT have that available and were not sure if it would ever be available. They did inform me that I could return the first two parts ordered and they returned my money,
I did some looking online and discovered bafang-e.online. I queried them regarding a replacement controller, and after supplying them the data from the original controller they sent me a replacement that was plug-to-plug compatible(~$80). Well to this point problem, is still here and I cannot locate any cabling block diagram for this rear hub motor system. Put the original e-controller back in and same issue. So nothing changed with the parts that were replaced.
I have not replaced any cabling within the subsystem, but I did cable up the motor to another Charge city bike and no errors and the motor does propel from the other bike. Could cabling be the fault as the error 30 is a communications failure but no suggestion as to where. Any suggestions on additional troubleshooting?
IMHO the problem has to be in the bike. Did not replace any PAS and frankly not sure where it could be (in the crank)?
Thanks.
