Coming back to this old thread since I now have gotten the BMS and the battery and most of the things in place, and also have some time over finally. The battery is almost finished.
Anyway I have soldered on all the balance leads from the Daly BMS. The reason I asked about an active balancer...
Hmm you install an active balancer instead of a BMS? :) Have it there instead of the BMS?
What is the difference between that and a regular BMS? What are the pros and cons? I also thought about that but I read somewhere it had some downsides but I cannot remember where I read it and what were...
How do I balance using a bulb? I think I might have to do that just to make sure they are very balanced. Since I am using a Daly BMS(red one passive balance), and I do not find an active balancer for this particular BMS.
I am also going to solder on the charging cables for Daly but i got a bit confused by the fact it has no C-cable attachment. So should the charging port be soldered onto both the main discharge wire negative and the main discharge negative positive? Or how are those two soldered on there? I have...
Yes I think it does cut charging earlier. Perhaps but I am not sure. This is the instructions for it if it tells you anything. Mine is the one circled in green of 13s40a.
Anyone knows if there is an active balancer for Daly BMSes? I mean the red type that has a passive balancing function. Do you guys know if there is an active compatible balancer for these ones? I would like to balance the next pack before I insert the balance wires but haven't found an active...
I changed batteries in the multimeter and one of them now charges to 53,8 and the other to 53,3. I guess this might also be normal since these batteries have been used for a log time. Might not necessarily be unblanced. Could also be wear on the cells right?
I have charged it up with two different chargers (and gotten the same result) now, so I guess it is probably the multimeter ?
I will try to change the batteries in it later.
I have now measured my other battery and I think maybe the multimeter could have drifted out of controll. Because it shows 53,3 for both these batteries at fully charge. Any idea why? Do they degrade over time these mutimeters I suppose?
Yeah but this was the ball park. They were very close.
I do suspect this could be an issue with one of the cells though that I might have missed. Chatgpt says that if one of the cells has bad internal resistance it might reach 4,2 volts much earlier making the BMS shut off charging. Perhaps...
