Are you sure you didn't buy one of those Li-uNoBtaNeIum batteries on ebay? I hear they are hard to find :P but you can get a lot of mileage before they explode.

I use the handlebar end mirrors and they do a good job. I have had my bike drop over on the mirror side in the garage and the mirror just folded over with no damage. I think they work better on a standard bike, on my BikeE recumbent my shoulder is in the way a little.
