I went thru the same thing as you last year - trying to decide between ebikes.ca and goldenmotor.ca. I think for support ebikes is way better if you need technical advice as GM admits that the technical world is not his strong point. Ebikes is leading the pack for technical stuff! Having said...
In case anyone comes across this thread looking for MP4 info I just wanted to say that I did get regen working. It was a faulty brake lever. The brake wiring includes 5V and this was getting shorted to ground when the brake was pressed causing the controller reset or lockup. Once I disconnect...
Hi Kauaikit,
I've got a mp4 installed using a 12s lipo pack and I've not been able to get regen braking to work. Does your setup allow for regenerative braking?
I'm running 12s because the Turnigy 5000mAh 4S1P hardcase Lipo were the best deal I could find. I thought about getting some 2s packs to up the voltage. My old beater is fast enough with the 12s powering it. I got the twist throttle. I can get just over 40k with a 26inch rim. With 14s you...
I run 12s of lipo and have not been able to get regen working. GM Canada sent me a new controller which did not fix the problem. From my reading on the GM forum it sounds like everyone else has regen working quite well. As far as setting the level of regen you would need to buy the...
I'm using a MP4 hub and regen is not working properly. I can't figure out what to try next. Some details that might be important:
activating brake lever cuts motor power so controller is getting braking signal
12s lipo powered (15ah)
verified controller programming is correct.
replaced the...
I have never used a BPM so I can't say but I personally don't need more torque, ymmv. You can either have freewheel or regenerative brakes. I don't really care about freewheel and wanted regenerative brakes to save on brake pads. That and I don't want to worry about clutches and gears...
Ya, I've been keeping my eyes open for an external sinewave controller with modulating regen in case the MP4 I just bought decides to head to an early grave. The warning that it will not be cheap does concern me. I do think Justin's gear is top notch though and (sometimes) you get what you pay...
Full modulation by hand is what this will do. You pull the brake lever to engage regen. You then turn on the throttle to turn up the regen intensity. Or if you have your throttle mapped thru a CA3 the first portion of the throttle, which normally does nothing, will allow regen modulation.
Here is a picture of the bike with the battery out of it. I'm no professional fabrication artist that is for certain :D I suppose the difference in looks between the mp2 and mp3 versus the mp4 is very minimal. I've been flogging this hub for almost 100 miles now and I really like it. The...
