    Budget Lightweight Friction Drive

Im using the 50-65 at 6s a123, so that would be 5s lipo, and im not burning it, just only power up from 20kmh to 37. Using 4s I have tried, with good results, than you definately wont burn it. I ran it at around 12-15 amp full throttle, with slight pedaling around 30kph Very efficient in that way!

Single swingarm (cheap, quick and dirty) friction drive

So i found a cheaper alternative, that is known here and has a good reputation, a123rc. Anyone ordered some 18650's from them? Too bad it looks like they don't offer spot welding..

    Friction drive idea discussion

I just searched for skateboard wheel, and this is where I got, so excuse me for not reading everything. How was your experience with the skateboard wheel as a friction drive roller? I want to use it as well, though, how is the performance when the road is wet in comparison with a smoot steel...

Single swingarm (cheap, quick and dirty) friction drive

Hi Adrian, The battery I got from Ohmygod. 75 usd inc spot welding and shipping. I am in the market for another one, but want to try some other seller, to compare, maybe cammy?

Single swingarm (cheap, quick and dirty) friction drive

All Good things come together.. it seems. Got some balance leads, new hall sensors, new bearings, and.. the battery finally arrived! (with some dents due to rough shipping, though... the cells should be able to handle that) Got checked by customs, but i guess they did not really know what do...

    Nasty LiPo fire

For some extra peace of mind, store the packs in an ammo box, metal, sturdy, water and airtight. Costs almost nothing. That is what I do with my rc-lipo packs, and always at 40% charge. This fire is (yet again) a good example of lipo fire danger, one of the many reasons I am switching to...

... and new motor bearings, looks (and feels) good!

Single swingarm (cheap, quick and dirty) friction drive

And hereby the photos. What I forgot: Quickly created a cree headlight, aluminum housing and delrin endcap with o-ring, waterproof. The cree r2 drop in driver supports up to 18 volts of input, so it needs another regulator to decrease the ingoing voltage of approx 20 volts to 3,5 volts. An...

    Budget Lightweight Friction Drive

Hey Hjoore, Nice to meet a fellow lagelander! Definately make a simple 50-65 friction drive for your gf, she will love it! Though.. make it fool proof, so not too much volts, and a spring return throttle ;) Nice video through the woods, very nice speeds and crash ;) Groetjes!

Single swingarm (cheap, quick and dirty) friction drive

@gtadmin, you did not miss it, I edited the post and added it later, im sorry for the confusion ;) I will try lowering the tire pressure a bit, and increase the depth the motor pushes in the tire, to see if this helps. The high wattage was due to a broken bearing, I hammered the axle through...

Commuter Booster - <1kg Friction Drive

Gtadmin, what forces will that bearing take? The way I see it, the only force/stress it can support is the bending force on the axle after the last bearing in the motor its core? That would mean, speaking of pure mechanic purpose other than "between the ears" and aesthetic, point of view, that...

Commuter Booster - <1kg Friction Drive

Hi Adrian, That 80-100 motor is going to be massive, in all aspects! Im curious how you are going to power that, considering you would want to keep the battery pack compact, while maintaining some range? Its definately going to work, im not afraid of that! Keep us posted. About the double...

    RC throttle interface build tutorial........

Thanks guys for posting the turnigy servo tester - hall throttle tutorial, fool proof! (but not for me I guess) I was kinda enthusiastic.. and just plugged the hall throttle in without swiching + and - poles. I found out I made that mistake.. and corrected it, though it still does not work...

Single swingarm (cheap, quick and dirty) friction drive

I guess you might be right, the grit used was quite fine, and brand new/sharp!.. (and maximum tire pressure) Though as I was pushing back the axle through the endbell, I killed a bearing... the smaller one(s) at the back of the motor... BUMMER! So that problem needs to be resolved first.. 120...
