so could I theoretically just upgrade the chain on the bike to handle more power? Is it just that putting that much power on the crank will mess up crankset bearings/ gears?

Would it be better to belt drive this system or should I stick with a chain ?

I will be putting in more than 48 lb ft continuous... a lot more I guess I will just put a gear with a freewheel on the disc break mount of the axle. 36:1 will have to do and Im SURE it will give me enough speed and the torque to pull 1000 lbs

thats 5kw on 12:1 then a 3:1 on top of that? so a total of 15:1 reduction on a 5 kw motor? that would pull a tank... what voltage was that again 48? I just have to get batteries to match now

if I had this thing built I would have you join us, I was going to go with a BMC V2 torque but Im not sure that it can handle the power, I know its got some impressive specs but the gears MUST be metal for this app.
