personally I would NOT put the batteries on the front forks ! :shock: :shock: because any weight you put on the forks will make steering heavy and slow in reaction . unless you drive on paved roads and mainly straight . rgs Renago

very smart idea , there is also Pinion that makes nice gearbox , and Suntour . I think it is similar , as concept , to the Honda bike presented some years ago RN01 . will it withstand the torque that an electric motor has ? I recently spoke with the engineer that designed the Pinion gearbox ...

I think the idea is very good . the system is working like a normal sungear . parts are custom made , don't think they are easy to find off the self . Renago

I'm doing something similar , but don't have any pic at the moment. one thing that is not clear is about the balancing wires : here we have 10 battery packs , but only 5 exit for balancing ? how can this be ? when you want to recharge all packs , you must break up the wiring and ri fix them...

I think I'll go for the LIPO , at least on my first bike. there is also a second in the pipe line , with a central motor. the experience on the first one will a good learning curve . Renago

next week I will finally have almost all components for my first e-bike . BUT...... I am very unsure on which batteries :| the bike will be used for fun , 90% off road , single track , on hills. motor Cry ht 3525 . Lyen controller, 18 fet . I was thinking to have aprox 15-20 Ah of capacity...

I would go for the Kona Kahuna , and change the forks . in the frame you should have enough space for some good batteries , 15 ah.,and the controller . but ..... if you really want to make a nice job , cut the frame and add the battery container ecc , Scott Nitrous . Renago

as said most of things are already set . I must take a decision on what kind of batteries to run. the RC lipo are relative cheap , and offer the best ratio of power to Kg and volume. the A123 , and Kokam are nice but , we have some big disadvantage : power / volume per Kg of battery is lower...
