    Programming ASI Bac 8000

I poked around in the config file a bit (very nice of you to comment it like that) but for faster debugging just loaded your configuration onto my controller to test it live using PC BacDoor. Right away I noticed that contrary to the mobile app images you showed that the Cutoff brake sensor...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

Brake 1 input for me only operated like a switch for regen. I think both are listed as analog inputs but you might need to use Brake 2 for a hall sensor or potentiometer. As you realized the Brake 2 pullup you have on should only be on if you're using a potentiometer that increases resistance as...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

So I've been trying to decipher the serial protocol of the ASI controllers, to find a way to quickly reprogram entire profiles of parameters by a hardware switch instead of just the speed/max power available by the native street/race modes through digital inputs. For example, change phase amps...

BAFANG BBSxx change settings on the fly (aka 'cop button') and BBSxx communication protocol

This is amazing work. Thank you so much for sharing this. I was told ASI controllers are compatible with Bafang display et al, and they have a published parameter dictionary complete with addresses... I'll be testing parts of your code and whatever I can read from the serial communications from...

    E.R.T \ Alan Hu nightmare.

Posted in another thread but I'll post here too, since a comment I made in your thread on ESFB with this same opening post LevLeon is what inspired Alan to insult, continue to lie to and gaslight me, and now blacklist me from his shop while editing his store policies after-the-fact just for me...

Alan Hu Electric Race Technologies. Beware!

Having seen reports of other ERT buys gone wrong, and a handful of reports where customers actually got what they ordered just several months later, I suspected Alan's issues were intermittent supply chain problems. Since his custom display looks nice and would save me time implementing a more...

    LightningRods mid drive kit

I hear this as, "MORE POWER!" Do you think you will ever make >10kW drives? A 15kW drive? I have a Q140 frame, BAC8000 and QS205, I love the power but the unsprung weight sure limits handling a lot. I've thought about trying a hub-motor parallel drive for stupid power and good handling...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

I bought the BAC8000 evaluation kit before they raised their price from $800 to $1600, yes. They are currently revamping their support page and documentation, thankfully! I was concerned about issues with ERT, didn't know of another distributor, wanted the option to get troubleshooting support...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

My controller is running firmware 6.012, bootloader 1.324. You can view these data in the Android app under "BAC Information", and in BacDoor also but you may have to add parameters to read. Happy to share the updated dictionary and config files, just PM me (I get PM but not thread...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

So, in the 6 months I spent RMAing DOA units, the BAC8000's got newer firmware that the copy of BacDoor I got months prior did not support. Once I got updated dictionaries for BacDoor, it took me all of a half hour to setup. Very impressed with the performance. The new library has...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

Good info, does a pot provide graded regen on brake1? Or are you using brake2? And where did you find a potentiometer throttle? The only ones I know of are full twist e.g. Domino. Although not stated in their "Hardware Inputs" summary which would lead you to believe both Brake1 and Brake 2 are...

Accelerated Systems ASI BAC 4000 & BAC 8000 FOC BT Controllers

Yes, it's optional. You have to supply battery power to the logic board via the 'Key' input to turn it on. The mobile application can set any parameter and read faults, a display e.g. Kingmeter or Bafang will only read/write specific values like walk mode, assist level, speed, power, etc...

QS motor magnet max temp before demag ?

Hey, sorry to necro this thread but like so many hotrodders here I have been looking to find a definitive answer about precisely where the threshold of reversible temperature-dependent magnetic losses becomes irreversible for years, I have never found any sort of hard data supporting max...

    Programming ASI Bac 8000

Hey, I'm trying to solve the exact same issue with my BAC8000. I bought direct from ASI and my first unit arrived with a dead logic board-- would not power on, could not connect to it. 3 months later, I got my replacement and it had some kind of internal short and I couldn't precharge it. 3...

    BAC 8000 Troubleshooting

This is a longshot, as I don't think many others are using these controllers right now. But even if nobody has advice, I'll update when I hear back from ASI and maybe it can help someone else too. And perhaps, this may serve as a cautionary tale for an apparently excellent but troublesome...

My new Cab Motor Works Recon

I fit a 21s24p pack of 29E cells in an EEB frame, total 5.5kwh. Bit much honestly, just crazy heavy and 29E doesn't even have good power. Took ages to tab-weld the pack and it was a total loss after a car hit me... they turned left without looking for traffic. Now I've got a 21s 14p pack of...

Accelerated Systems ASI BAC 4000 & BAC 8000 FOC BT Controllers

Yeah the first post does say 90v. But the latest brochure from ASI says 72v 'nominal'; http://accelerated-systems.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/07/ASI_HIGHPOWERcontroller_JUNE2018.pdf Other folks on here alluded to 20s max. If its 72v "nominal" then I assume 84V is the highest they care anyone to...

Accelerated Systems ASI BAC 4000 & BAC 8000 FOC BT Controllers

I took 72v as a hard limit like on most controllers, as in, if you approach it it might die. I'm replacing a bike that had a Max-E right now and since Adaptto's parts are out of stock everywhere and this seems to have a superior control algorithm plus better power density, I am quite interested...

    BEAMts Torque Sensor...Figured it out!

I just put together an ebike with an EEB frame, Max-E, modded MXUS 3kw/4t, and a 420 cell 18650 battery pack (21s20p, 78v/58ah) and took it around the lot for the first time tonight. I'm using a half-twist throttle wired to the passthrough on the BeamTS unit, which is connected to my adaptto...

    EM3EV selling Full sus frames

He said he'll be supply batteries eventually. Comes with a BB. Fatbike width. I've ordered a frame and borrowed Brake's spot welder for building up a pack into it. Planning on putting a 60-tooth and ~30 tooth twin rings on it with the smallest rear freewheel I can fit, 16t on my cro. No...

    Brake's Phatrod Cruiser Build

Wow looks absolutely gorgeous. I might go for sheets over strips just for the sexy battery at the end! I have had no time at all to work on my bike but priority #1 is a new battery and then suspension! 18650's all the way! 14.2kw is crazy! Haven't hit that in ages now. Have you had...

    Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Maybe a small switch to shunt the 5v signal to either the hall or resistor so you can enable/disable the combo braking as needed? On my KMX I feel quite at home with both regen and throttle on thumb throttles, and brakes at hand. But I really only use my mechanical brakes for emergency...

    Adaptto Mini-E/Max-E Owner's Thread

Just FYI, best emergency stop here is a small simple switch for the display power. Cut power to display, and everything stops. ACC OFF ON BRK won't help you if, for example, your +5v hall line has a wire fracture while on cruise control... disabling brake AND throttle. It sounds far fetched...
