Oh yeah, I was think about doing that too. Probably will.

    I need higher gears

Put it on today, works great :) The only problem is I broke my shifter while trying to adjust the derailleur cable, I guess I put it too tight so when I tried to shift it snapped a piece inside. Oh well, if it broke that easily, it probably would have broken under normal use eventually. So...

    DIY 18650 battery bank charging

I built a battery bank for charging my phone while riding. I used 6 18650 cells from an old laptop in a 3s2p config. Connected to a USB car charger, and it works. I plan on version 2 having a case of some sort. But now how should I charge the batteries? I want to make sure I'm not going to...

    I need higher gears

That's almost as much as I spent on my entire bike  looks nice though. I'm not super into pedaling, I just want to get some exercise so that I can get/stay in decent shape. I don't know exact RPMs, but I'd like to be at somewhere around 80-90 at the highest, with the option to go down to...

    I need higher gears

alright, I'm going to the Bike Kitchen tomorrow to see what they have 26" wheel steel frame full suspension 50t or more chainring, or at least 5-bolt crankset that I can upgrade anything else I should look for?

    I need higher gears

We can make some assumptions based on logic, but then these laws are not logical in the first place so maybe I'm wrong *smashes head on brick* A physically fit person can pedal a normal bike at well over 20mph without any motor assistance. So this law MUST be interpreted that a motorized bike...

    I need higher gears

It's fairly easy to set a max speed on my controller, so it will be easy to switch between a "street" and "offroad" configuration, so it doesn't change my plans for what I want, just how careful I need to be when using it. wow, they even have a 73T chainring there. The biggest I can find...

    I need higher gears

Wow, I'm surprised nobody told me this before. I assumed all the info I found was true in the US regardless of state. From: https://www.dmv.ca.gov/portal/dmv/detail/motorcycles/motorcycles

    I need higher gears

I built my ebike last week (thanks everyone who gave input on that). It's sooooo fun :). Now I need more speed  Just kidding (mostly), 30 mph without pedalling is good for now. But I do need to be able to get some exercise while still going a decent speed. Right now I have trouble...

RC Lipo pack inspection, series/parallel charging, and lifespan/safety tips

Got it. Also I did some googling and found that .05v variance is on the extremely safe side. In the post I found they said they tested at .2v difference and it was fine.

RC Lipo pack inspection, series/parallel charging, and lifespan/safety tips

Got my batteries today, get my motor/kit tomorrow :D 1 question; do I leave the parallel balance lead connected when the batteries are in series for discharge? I would assume I disconnect it, but looking at the graph, if I discharge below ~3.6v per cell, the variance in the cells will most...

RC Lipo pack inspection, series/parallel charging, and lifespan/safety tips

Thank you for all this information! Will I run into any problems running 2 6s packs in series, and charging in parallel? I have this charger already. It can charge up to 6s. and I plan on getting 2 of these...

Cool, thanks :D Edit: what do you mean by parallel charge? I was planning on charging 1 at a time, is there a better way? edit: nevermind, re-read http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=52240 and found the information.

Ok, so I think I do want go the RC Lipo route. The cost savings is just too much to pass up. Getting one of these kits. Most likely the 48v unless I find a battery for the 36v is a lot cheaper...

    Motorcycle batteries

2-3 miles? That's pretty useless, I was hoping for at at least 10. I'll just wait til I can get a real battery then. In the meantime, I am reconsidering RC Lipo or building my own out of 18650. Gotta do more research.

    Motorcycle batteries

I'm sure I've seen something around here about motorcycle batteries but I can't find it now. I'm looking to build an ebike on a tight budget. I was going to save up for a while for a 48v ebay kit+Lunacycle battery (more info in my thread here...

whoa there, that's why I'm asking for opinions :P Ok, thanks for the info, sarcasm is hard to tell on the internet sometimes  @dequinox, looks like something I'd probably do in the future, but for now I think ill just keep it simple and buy one pre-assembled

Ah I knew I was forgetting something. I need 1000w / 48v = 20.8 amps? And is that continuous or peak amps? Would this one be okay? https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-battery/685-48v10ah-bottle-09-e-bike-battery-charger-battery.html I am including tax and shipping costs.

I don't see any big reasons to buy a new bike right now. Ill probably get one later, but for now I need to save as much money as possible. I'm sure I can figure something out for the battery mount. I was thinking about even just putting it in a backpack with a cable sticking out, I don't want...

There is a simple battery level indicator on the throttle on the ebay kit, is that good enough? If not, what would I need to buy with it? I have a phone app to tell my speed. Oh also, the leafbike kit doesn't come with a freewheel, so that's an extra $25, and the ebay kit comes with a tire, I'm...

I was looking at some used stuff, specifically that battery on craigslist, but I don't like buying used things that I can't test before I buy and don't know a lot about. I'll keep an eye on the forums though. Regarding my bike, the center part is aluminum, but the rear and front are steel, I...
