Will wood short or drain a 50v battery?

For a physical container of the batteries, wood sealed with an epoxy or polyester resin/glass fibre coating would be ideal. Extremely low electrical conductivity, extremely water resistant and strong. Best electrical contact for cell to cell I would aim for soldered or welded connections.

Will wood short or drain a 50v battery?

Dry hardwoods are generally not a problem and are often used for electric fence supports (do conduct a little when wet but will dry out again in the sunshine) Softwoods absorb a lot more water and often have sufficient salts to act as conductors. Not going to pull mega amps but over several...

700c tires .. what should I look for?

I've used the schwalbe marathon supreme 35s. Haven't done alot kilometers on them yet but am generally happy (no punctures and much better on loose sandy surfaces. A couple of traps to watch for. Once you've adjusted your caliper brakes the tyre wont slide so calliplers, callipers have to be...

    Aussie 200 Watt Limit Thread

Does any have an idea of the typical horsepower of the 50cc motors? I always used an estimate of 10cc per horsepower. So 50cc is roughly 5 horsepower or 4000Watts.

    Help required on cycle analyst

Thanks BlackArrow for your redirection. Justin walked me through the diagnostics via emails and quickly identified a resistor that had gone open circuit (reason unknown, might have been stress cross the equator) Trivial to fix once identified. All fixed now. If only all problems where this...

    Help required on cycle analyst

Hi Guys I'm slowly getting my ebike together. When I came to adding the CycleAnalyst (Larger display version) I though I'd better check it to determine which way up the characters are. I applied applied power from a 48Volt LiFE pack and shunt but have not connected the the hub motor. The...

Direct Drive #219 Pitch Monster Sprocket

Then again if I went with the 165 T option I'd need a 13T on the motor side. This could still work.

Direct Drive #219 Pitch Monster Sprocket

Hi Guys, This is an excellent thread. I'm considering the Astro 3220 motor on a 700C wheel/rim and direct drive has definite attractions. I need a 13:1 reduction to achieve 60kph at 6000rpm from motor. This is doable with a 26 inch gear/sprocket on the wheel and about 2 inch gear/sprocket at...

    Strongest seat post rack

I like spinningmagnets design but I would put the downtubes back on the axles and place a hinge joint near the seatpost. otherwise split the load and get some of it up front of the handle bars. This would also improve handling.

Kona Kahuna build - 1000 mile review

Yep looks like a nice bike. If you do run out of space you can consider putting a few of you triple cell units either behind and under the saddle or in front of the of the handle bars. Where or what are the triple containers from? As for for the adhesive I would go with the silicon rubber. Its...

    Beef Jerky !

I luv a good Jerky and I'm definitely guna try your recipe although might have to substitute an Ozzy alternative. Have you consider using a motorize slice to more consistency in the thickness. This works better on nearly frozen meat.

LiFePO4 to fit in Triangle Frame

Missed a step out. Prior to making the shelves/battery supports 1) dissolve the foam using a solvent acetone or petrol (use care and be thoughtful of where you dispose of the used solvent) or 2) Use a a hot wire foam cutter to cut your battery supports out of the foam. Note you'll need to be...

LiFePO4 to fit in Triangle Frame

John's right. A solution: Get a sheet of polystyrene larger than the triangle frame area. Cut so it fits within the frame and is a smidgen thicker than the cells your going to use, (this might be one or two cell diameters depending on your total number of cells) Use an epoxy resin (not...

Poll: whats your favourite bike accessory?

Rear view mirror (helmet mounted) If you find the image is vibrating too much, try adding more mass the mirror end (to reduce the amplitude of the vibration) and mount on something compliant to dampen the resonance effect. GreenKnight
