May 30th Willow Springs Socal Motorized Bicycle Race

Yeah, man. Nothing sharpens the senses like knowing that everything could go sideways at any moment. Hope to see you out on the track sometime. 8)

May 30th Willow Springs Socal Motorized Bicycle Race

Well it was not a case of eBike domination at the track, Saturday, but at least other electric competitors are showing up again. A new, fat-ebike racing team, Shaun and Sydni drove all-the-way from Shriveport, Louisiana to prove their mettle. Corbin K and Dave K came to support the electric...

Original, Authentic E-Chopper from "Easy Rider" for sale

Eisenberg's bike was a fake! I know, because I have the real bike from the 1969 movie, "Easy Rider" and it is for sale at a fraction of the price of the fake one which sold at auction for a record $1.6 million last weekend. Widely believed to have been stolen in the early seventies, the...

Ridehax Podcast (was :Endless Sphere Podcast / Ebike Nerdcast)

33 was really great. I liked how Alan Smith reduced the task to bracket making- a man after my own heart. LIke you, I also yearn to see what Craig would do building an ebike from the ground up with no consideration for what we expect from gas bike designs. As he put it, "If I get a chance...

Experimental Cargo Ebike Trip, Vancouver to SF Maker Faire

Two weeks ago I got the PM from Robbie. He likes the new Juicer 36 and sez he and Justin have some passes for me if I can get it to Makers. I got nothin' going on that weekend that I can't wiggle out of, I'll just promise my daughter I'll make it to her next wedding. Robbie said they'd have...

Ridehax Podcast (was :Endless Sphere Podcast / Ebike Nerdcast)

Guys, guys, read what I said. Zero bikes are better looking than they used to be. The X bikes too, even if they did keep the ugly seat. Maybe you're right and that's just the standard shape for motocross. I have no first hand knowledge of it, but I hear that shape is very comfortable...

Ridehax Podcast (was :Endless Sphere Podcast / Ebike Nerdcast)

I really enjoyed the interview with Matt Bentley the new industrial designer for Zero. The new S models look so much better than their first bikes. They should put him to work on the X models, because they still have a ways to go (I guess if you have to sit on a maxi-pad, it might as well have...

    Kelly controllers are they better

I have always had good luck with Kelly, but have only used them with 48v builds. The 100a mini controller I used in Juicer 3 is quiet, efficient, and easy to program.

Thanks Pen. I didn't make any vids, but there are a couple of short clips on the Hollywood Electrics youtube channel. http://www.youtube.com/user/HollywoodElectrics

    Construction of Electric Chopper

Badass build, my brother. You are a man after my own heart! My favorite detail is the jockey-shift, but the sprung fork and saddle are great features too. Bravo.

    Juicer II, the Etek build

Thanks, everybody for the comments! Your encouragement and support is the wind in my sails. I was also very flattered that Juicer II was invited to the 2012 Car Classic at Art Center in Pasadena. The theme was "Inspired Design." It was a huge thrill, lining up between some very rare vintage...

    Juicer III, thirty mile range?

Drunkskunk, you may be right. Even though I programmed each for 100a, the 400a controller may be able to ramp-up the amps faster than a controller that can only peak at 100a. My thinking on the tires was that the Felts were wider, softer and heavier than the slicks, so they would have more...

    Juicer III, thirty mile range?

Hey, thanks for the comments guys. The board always has been a huge source of support. Now I have two of these 48v beasts with seemingly minor differences between them. To what then can we attribute the major difference in range? Roughly in order of significance I'm guessing these are the...

    Juicer III, thirty mile range?

Riiiight, where was I. Well, long story short, I built the sun bitch in the usual way except using stainless for the tank. Then it was time for a test ride. Everything worked great. The front chain looks a little slack, but actually all three chains stay on great under load without any...

    Juicer III, thirty mile range?

On this board I had only heard good things about the Yesa BMS, and I found that the 16s board was affordable and had two sense-wire plugs which perfectly compliments the EV-Twin design. On the down side, it is BIG. The board itself is big and comes mounted on a huge heat-sink. But after some...

    Juicer III, thirty mile range?

Juicer Electric Motorbicycles LLC is a go! Some of you may have seen my "Etek Build" which got a bit of attention here and there. And though I was happy with the overall design, I knew I'd have to change a few things on the 48v model before inflicting it on a customer. The BMS was too weak...
