    ok, easy fix for my dropping chain problem (lets see if it works long term)... I just reinstalled my front derailleur and locked it out with the adjustment screws to be in the right position. Now... back to my alignment issues... i not have a sneaky suspicion that its the front part of the kit...

    I don't know if i need a tensioner as I have a clutched rear derailleur, i just need something to prevent it moving from side to side as I've had drops in both directions... I'm just not sure what will fin into the limited area that the LR kit provides...

    I have figured out the answer for a rear derailleur! Yes, you can mate a 7 speed chain and cassette to a 10 speed clutched Shimano derailleur!!! The parts I used were; Shimano Shadow plus rear derailleur 7 speed cassette 7 speed chain SRAM X3 7 speed shifter 4.5mm (off the top of my head)...
