BC: I still have the Mac 350w you inquired about. I don't come to ES much in winter, so missed your message from Jan. 3. Thanks....John (rumped6)

If you list a location You might sell faster and be happier

Nice to see lotsa folks using their location in the ad header. On behalf of whole battalions of ES readers and buyers, thanks :D :D :D For those who remain stubborn/reclusive/self-absorbed (or, yikes! all three) a curse on you for a thousand generations......No. I take that back. Make it...

If you list a location You might sell faster and be happier

Couldn't agree more with OP. Location is all, UNLESS you are willing/wanting to ship anywhere. Sorry, Dog. You're outta the stream on this one :P John

    New build advice

Gizak in the Desert: You've got some great help from fine sources. Let me add a few things, as an old guy, and conservative e-biker. Heat (as Dogman hints) is a critical factor in your thinking - and geared motors tend to produce more, especially at the "realistic" speeds you're talking...

G series motors from Electric Rider

Funny how our individual brains work. When I first saw that motor at their site, I simply assumed it was geared. So, thought they must have labeled it such. But looking at their site now, they don't, in any clear way, in the text accompanying it. The 9 lbs a giveaway? The emphasis on...

Adaptive Tadpole Trike - Best/Easiest conversion to electric

Life Re: E-bikekit (I didn't realize they now have a hyphen!) emphasized plug and play from their beginnings. Still do. But almost every kit now is plug and play to some extent. Ebikes.ca would solve your controller-wiring worries as much as e-bikekit would, I think. The "trike" kit ("more...

Adaptive Tadpole Trike - Best/Easiest conversion to electric

Add: ebikes.ca is having a 9C sale right now; they are good and helpful and honest folks. If cost is a primary concern (as it is for so many of us) now might be a good time to strike!?!

Adaptive Tadpole Trike - Best/Easiest conversion to electric

Trike Gal: Things will be "hard" or "easy" depending upon the experience and confidence you bring. Sometimes, even the most helpful folks here (and they are many and terrific!) forget what it was like to begin. The controller can be a wiry nightmare :D . But it can be greatly simplified...

Yikes! I was referring to the PiCycle.

a2b discontinued from best buy / Replaced by PiCycle

First impression of bike in pic: Wow! Interesting, interesting, not sure I like it... Further impressions, after doing a little online education about it - I could get to:-). I wonder how, in different localities, its unique design adds to or diminishes its theft-ability?

New Guy With Crystalite Phoenix Question

OOPS! The two-year estimate assumes about 250 trips a year commuting, with ONE recharge nightly. If there's a recharge at work, then another overnight, something less than two years' service from the SLAs would be more realistic. Sorry 'bout that:-)....

New Guy With Crystalite Phoenix Question

Since I'm a crusty old coot, and a have an unfortunate contrarian streak to boot, let me join the brave Floont and say that SLAs, old tech as they are, heavy and range-limited as they are, are still a reliable and sane choice in certain contexts - and yours, Appletown, as described, MAY be one...

    Nine Continents front motor noise

I'm with Dogman on this - if "pinging" is the same for your ear as mine. Had a Chrystalyte brushed that did it for three years, 2,000 miles - no problems. Just check your spokes every once in a while for abnormal wear.

    fair expectations new SLAs

Cube and Geebee - thanks for the parallel charge tip; I'll try it. Lester: I was gonna mention what Feral Dog did - effect of wind is contextual. I was out of Wisconsin winters (30 years:-) by the time I went electric - but here in Eastern Pa., where I'd guess most winter days are roughly ten...

    fair expectations new SLAs

Torker: The mix-n-match method sounds like me when I started out some years ago. Glad yours are gettin' along! Cold: I would be less concerned if I had your numbers - I guess the charger might account for some of the difference. My concern is whether the October and November units have...

    fair expectations new SLAs

I could use some feedback on the following: Just bought "new" BB batteries - 4 of the EP series. Among the four, three different dates of manufacture: one from October, 2009, two from November of that year, and one from January of this year. That kind of mix normal? Got them the end of...

    plugs/wiring ecrazyman

Folks: Just got my new 48v BRUSHED controller from keywin, along with a 48v throttle. Prompt delivery, shipping discount! Many plug/wire mismatches. Any advice? Particularly: can the small, traditional 4-female throttle plug be converted to an Anderson? Something more appropriate? Its...

    First Adventure into E bikes

Ballen: Good luck. If you can recharge at work, y'should be fine, as described. Electricrider.com is another place y'might look. Dogman: great to know I am not the only one stalked by contrarian winds! Just once I'd like to hear the weather gal say: "...and coming home, the winds will...

Detroit 3 say they'll need help to go electric

Anecdote from the first Earth Day - 1971? Christian Science Monitor reporter was in town (Milwaukee) for a symposium. Related whoever the Ford in charge was at the time, witnessing a panel the company had formed to explore electrics present somewhat optimistic preliminary findings, jumped up...

    Increase SLA performance in winter!

You guys reminded me of an assumption I shouldn't have made. I ALWAYS keep my batts indoors. The other thing I meant to include - the batts work fine as I described above for ten-mile round trips, with maybe twenty minutes, a half-hour in between five-mile legs. Didn't mean to over-promise here.
