Out riding, MN USA
If you took a moment to list where on the planet you are.
It sucks to have to read every post only to find something is a world away!

If I notice UK in a heading I will read. Likewise EU. Otherwise I won't bother. However once in a thread I expect something more accurate for collection items.

And list the PRICE ALWAYS. I am not willing to guess the magic number. The currency unit also tells me a little about location.

We do remove quite a few for sale posts for not listing locations and price.
Location in the title is a nice touch, but I don't think it's mandatory.

Reporting those posts that give neither location or price will help us tidy up sooner. But generally we will ask the poster to give the info before actually removing the post.

Now if we could just get folks to list reasonable prices. To me, used prices start at 50% of retail. Used battery, well....

Thanks dog but if an item is in AU I could care less what the price is. You may see price as primary but shipping on many items is a deal breaker based on location. If an item is in another country I wouldn't bother to even open the posting.

In the end I'm happy to read some mod is giving of their time to keep it up. Thank you and all those who work so hard and have already helped me immeasruably. You're the best!

What goods would you buy from someone that can't even advertise them properly. Would you trust them to build a wheel or treat there cells correctly.

Certain info should precede the main body of the post. Nobody should have to read through everything to pick out the highlights.

Item's proper name for searching.
Items price
Items location
Can it be posted, and any limits imposed (such as international boundary's)
Marks out of 10 for condition

The main body of the post can contain all the secondary information. Things like the exact number of scratch's or age of the item. Mileage covered. The colour. Reasons for sale. All the stuff of no interest to people that don't want it now the simple facts are known.

I swear some people need a template. It is the same on nearly all forums.

Couldn't agree more with OP. Location is all, UNLESS you are willing/wanting
to ship anywhere.

Sorry, Dog. You're outta the stream on this one :p

Location and price is mandatory. We do chuck a post that doesn't have it, after requesting it from the seller and getting no change.

I just said it's not mandatory in the title.

Sometimes we'll just edit, to bring location and price closer to the top of a page.

It should be mandatory, in the title, to list the location. It was made so on modern vespa and works marvellously. Why waste time reading a thread to find the item is not available when it could be in the title? So simple and silly not to IME. But whatever, my point is the seller loses. I now have cash and am on a second build plan. I'm hunting deals and a simple [Buttfart, USA] [YourLocation, CountryCode] in the title would grab my interest immediately. It will improve sales and forum flow. Period.

Second the call for making the location mandatory in the title - just don't enforce it for the time being.
This subforum can be a bit frustrating to browse, which is a shame as the whole of ES is actually something I'm proud of being a part of.

Well I don't deny it's a good idea. Justin would have the call on changing the forum rules, with our input. So PM him with the requests.

Would there be support from the moderators? Without that, it has little water. I assume you have a moderators lounge to discuss?

Thanks for putting up with the suggestions and discussion!

You got my vote for it. But for now, report any for sale ads that do not have location and price someplace in the text.

some forums are setup with regional classifieds for this reason.

I understand what you're saying, but some things here are small enough to be sent globally without issue.
Some special items are even worth one's while despite massive shipping costs, e.g. I just ordered 12 Nissan LEAF Modules from the US as it was still cheaper than breaking a crashed car locally.
Tag 'em or bag 'em I say :)

It's always easier to know where something will come from. If I see Ireland I immediately know it'll add AT LEAST $20 and nary a wee drop.

Well, for now the rule remains, put a location in the thread.

Report any that give no location at all, so we can take action to get it put in the thread. Same for those that won't say a price.

Nice to see lotsa folks using their location in the ad header.

On behalf of whole battalions of ES readers and buyers, thanks :D :D :D

For those who remain stubborn/reclusive/self-absorbed (or, yikes!
all three) a curse on you
for a thousand generations......No. I take that back.

Make it two thousand!!!!

For those just too shy, you get a pass....

You could just never send them folks that don't put the location in the header money.

Moved because, This is not a for sale thread, and you didn't put your location in the title.
