    Trailer power

Hi Bill; Which motor did you end up deciding to use?

New build. The S.U.B (Sport Utility Bike)

Great looking bike, I have looked at building one of these myself so it is good to see your results. I'm attempting to collect some info on the differences between the C-Lyte 406 and the BD36 motors. You seem to have some first hand experience of both. Are you willing to answer a question or two?

    Rassy's Two Wheel Recumbent

Thanks for the reply! I will do some more poking around about the C-lyte 406 comparison. I have not seen that style of BOB trailer before, only the ones with the metal platform. Do you have any pictures of the underside and your modifcation sequence? There are a couple of the commercial rigs...

    Trailer power

Hi Rassy I don't wish to hijack B's thread, but I am interested in your trailer build project and asked a Q about the motor in your thread in the Photos & Vids section. Perhaps we could carry on this dialogue over there

    E.M.X

That would be great Y :D Since, I already have a 36V battery pack I would be interested in how that compares to 48V if I understand your intentions. Did you comment somewhere that it is possible to convert a front hub to a rear by changing the side cover, or did I misunderstand?

    E.M.X

I too would recommend the Thudbuster. Check out ebay for possible deals. Are you going to try a 406 on the front? Selfish interest  on my part , or can you extrapolate from the 404?

    Rassy's Two Wheel Recumbent

Hi Rassy; I'm very interested in your Ibex build. I'm not very familiar with the WE BD36 motors. Do you know how it compares with the C-Lyte 4 series? (or who around these parts might be able to tell me)

Hi B; Is this the kind of thing you had in mind? http://www.e-ride.ca/Electric_Bikes/Electric_conversion_trailer.htm

    Super Stealthy Puma KMX

Hi Jozzer; You seem to have figured out the safe but exciting parameters for the Puma. Are the details documented anywhere? IE something like 60V max, X-lyte 40A 72V controller with X fets mod. etc.... Seems that the specs are being worked out for the rest of us who are less adventursome. I...

    Deecanios first build the "DC1"

Dee So is this what Knoxie was referring to awhile back when he suggested that the Puma was best run at 60V? Or is it strictly the 55V BMS components within your battery pack? Like yourself I have been away from all of the e-bike stuff for awhile ;-) Too busy riding my new pedal only bikes :D

    BMC/Puma Motor question

Thanks Jozzer. Kind of had a hunch that something like that might be the case. Patience seems to be the name of the game with some of this technology if one isn't willing to do the mods oneself eh?

    BMC/Puma Motor question

Hi All; I've been out of the loop for a couple of months now. Last time I was in contact, Doug@EVTech had had a fire, and I decided that further questions about the BMC would probably be low on his priority list. He had previously said that the next generation of the BMC motor would be...

Hi Lowell: How local is local when you are referring to the Fets Mods?

    Jumping Curbs On My Ebike

Gaston; Don't know if this rack would work with disc brakes but I thought you might like to give it a look. Seems to me it might work better than a seat post rack. http://www.axiomgear.com/product/racks/rear_suspension_racks/product.php?id=137

    Test ride after controller/battery mods

Hey GP; The mods that Justin did were they at your suggestion or his? Did he do all of the mods or were some of them yours? I only ask as I have been considering your set up but was wondering about the controller reliability. I wonder if Justin would do this mod or get Kenny to supply them...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Thanks X Kind of what I was thinking, though I must admit that I like the compact size of the 20A controllers (there, spelt it correctly this time). I had forgotten about the current limiting capabilities of the new CA. From reading some other post I think Deecanio wound up with a 35A...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Xyster wrote: It's fun. I imagine you have to be much more careful when it's somebody else's stuff you're feeling like you want to experiment with just for the heck of it. :) Houses are just large sculptural pieces to my eyes at times, so with trust, a client will usually indulge me. You...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Gaston Ok, at least I was following you. Thats a relief. I grew up riding around in a Jag and later learned to drive the same car. Never felt the need to mess with the thing, it was temperamental enough as it was. Same with my TR6 that I got after University. I drive a Toyota SR5 4X4 cause it...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Lowell; I always appreciate your comments but I don't understand the significance of your efficiency testing data. I'm sure there is something for me to learn here, perhaps you would be willing to phrase it in a different manner for me to be able to grasp its significance.

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Now back to the initial questions I was curious about. Xyster, thanks again for the clarifications. Is it fair to suggest then that any of us who are looking to run higher voltages would do well to think in terms of upgrading the mofsets? Is it possible to take some precautions before...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Thanks for the clarifications guys. With your assistance I am slowly gaining clarity. I'm not saying that my speedo is the most accurate but I clocked 89.6KPH coming down the mountain today. Obviously not all the way, but basically it is a fun  down hill ride into town. The uphill...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

Boy this stuff makes my head hurt :? So if the X-lyte controller will work at 72V and 35 or 40A and is usable up to approx. 95V why are the boys modding their controllers? In Knoxies case is this due to the Puma/X-lyte controller differences? I guess I was interested in running a 5 series at...

    20A vs (30A vs) 35A X-lyte controllers

I've been reading up on Maytag and Deecanio's builds and was wondering if someone could explain in simple language the differences between the x-lyte 36-72V controllers. IE at 20A and 35A (the 30A is a mod that knoxie talked about) It seemed that Knoxie was modding a 20A controller for D to run...
