    have you thought about reversing the motor by putting a fixed motor sprocket on the left side of the wheel and make the right side a freewheel? that would give you the option of pedaling with the motor or using the pedals as "foot holds" while the motor works. wondering what led you to this...

    okay.... for practical purposes, the bike is in a uniform gravitational field, yes? if so, then very often, the two terms, center of G and center of M are used interchangebly.

    it's not like it rains every single day, is it? in 3-4 days, that hurricane ike's gonnabe gone - might make for a few good days to get out between the storms. (or even this morning before it comes your way by looking at the sattelite image, you might have a 1 day window to ride)
