Could this truly be a sine wave upgraded BBSHD Controller???

I had kept seeing discussions that the new controllers could handle way more than the 30a set by Bafang. Problems arise in that they just can't sustain it and get pushed too far too often by the unknowing.

A handy passive to active battery cooling blog post?

EVs have to respond to all challenges. It's not so much the current draw that requires cooling but everyone is trying to charge faster and faster. Fast charging generates quite a bit of heat. Don't forget, these cars are expected to be able to wander Death Valley in the middle of July (with 5...

Connector for 5A 48v charger, same diameter as DC5521 for dp Polly Case

Don't charge through those crappy little ports. They fail pretty quickly over time. My case came with one and I glued it shut. Since I use a 2-wire BMS I put a Y-cord on the XT90 main power connector and that goes to an XT60 plug for charging. Since I run two packs in parallel, I charge at 10...

Are these Samsung batteries as advertised by manufacturer?

Actually, yes! They are very active pursuing counterfeit products.

Are these Samsung batteries as advertised by manufacturer?

Who ever made the pack I'm sure is different than who is making the cells. Whoever is making the cells I'm sure has a whole lot more to lose if Samsung went after them.

Are these Samsung batteries as advertised by manufacturer?

Then you would be guilty of infringement. There is no law against having the same part number but there is if you start printing another company's name on your product.

Are these Samsung batteries as advertised by manufacturer?

This what I thought the 50G looks like. As you said, Samsung seems to always put their name on it.

How to write on shrink wrap insulation of cell without it rubbing off

It helps to wipe with a solvent first (lacquer thinner, acetone, etc.). It will haze/roughen the surface. Markers like sharpies won't then wipe or wear away as easily.

"Spontaneous" Combustion of Li Ion Cells

They cycle after hitting 100%. The pack drops to 95% and the charger turns on again until it reaches 100% then turns off again. Rinse and repeat indefinitely. It surprised me we haven't seen more instances of the charger or pack BMS failing.

"Spontaneous" Combustion of Li Ion Cells

I've mentioned it before, but I keep my assembled packs in a galvanized foot locker. The lid latches securely but is loose enough to allow venting. You can get them on Ebay. I do have loose cells around that I keep at 50% just in cardboard parts boxes sorted by capacity. Remember people, 18650s...

Run two (almost) same battery packs in parallel

If both BMSs are 2-wire then just wire together in parallel and when you charge one, obviously you are charging both. I run two 52v packs in parallel with one 6p pack several years older than the other 5p pack. No issues. A few years ago I tried this with one 2-wire and one 3-wire BMS pack. I...

    Dual battery balancer

Which is why @E-HP mentioned "experience" in the above post. Just an FYI - BMSs are generally 2-wire or 3-wire. 3-wire BMSs use the third wire for charging whereas 2-wire BMSs charge and discharge through just the two main wires.

    Interesting...... You wear it?!!!

    Dual battery balancer

+1 It should be mentioned the BMSs need to be two-wire to work correctly in parallel.

    Anyone used this discharger?

    14s and 150 watts.

    Anyone used this discharger?

The other unit that I had that failed was not Atorch. It had rotary dials for controls and not the digital of the Atorch. My Atorch has been fine.

    Anyone used this discharger?

A while ago I had another unit almost identical to the Atorch. It too died as the main load chip blew a piece right out of it. I think I was testing a 52v pack. They refunded complete. Yes, I remember Atorch literature saying 200 volts.

Highest tooth count for BBSHD chain ring?

Now here's what I'm talking about! (Just kidding. :ROFLMAO: Full video here.)

    Anyone used this discharger?

The higher the discharge rate the lower ah you will get. You need to pick a rate you can use across as many devices as possible even down to individual cells. 1 amp is also common to many other testers which helps to discuss apples-to-apples so to speak.

Heat Shrink and Padding Battery Pack - Why?

A Dremel type rotary tool is versatile and inexpensive.

Sorry, but you probably will. My favorites.

Heat Shrink and Padding Battery Pack - Why?

Actually, those holders that I linked to you can nip off the four little tabs that hold them at the end of the cell and then you can slide then to any position on the cells.

Heat Shrink and Padding Battery Pack - Why?

I've always used these 18650 battery holders for all the batteries I have built. Common wisdom is not to let the cells be able to touch each other. If you can do that with fish paper and are sure they won't chafe?????? The results are pretty serious if you make a mistake.

Heat Shrink and Padding Battery Pack - Why?

No, I'm afraid not. You should watch some YouTube videos on the materials and processes used to heat shrink an ebike battery. The video below is using the heavier rubberized heat shrink tubing we discussed above.

Heat Shrink and Padding Battery Pack - Why?

All the packs I make that run on a rear rack sit on a sheet of 1/2" closed cell foam to dampen the shock. Sitting on the rack, space is not a huge issue. I also use a much heavier shrink tube than the shiny blue PVC stretch wrap tube. The blue stuff just does not hold up well.
