1000w lipo SuperScooter -- it let out all the magic smoke

Sounds like an awesome ride even though it stopped on you. Honestly I would take a look at this website http://www.kellycontroller.com/ They carry a lot more heavy duty electronics for larger EV's. I'm not sure that RC components would be a good idea for this case.

Powering your ESC from a charger?

Okay finally got some time for some pictures after work. Hopefully this will help show what I'm talking about, also any other input is welcome! Thanks for the reply torque, I know that it looks kind of sloppy underneath the hood right now I just haven't had time to really design a cleaner...

Powering your ESC from a charger?

Sorry I wasn't more clear in the first post and I'll try and actually post a picture of the setup tomorrow. I'm running essentially two pairs of 6s LifePo's in parallel. They each have their own BMS and don't require balancing. Also, they should last quite a bit as they are each 6600mAh and...

Powering your ESC from a charger?

Hi, thank you for looking at the topic. I've run into some trouble wiring my new setup. Honestly it'd be a bit hard to explain so I made a picture! So the top image is my current setup. My problem is that the jumper connection I soldered in only disconnects one battery. With the parallel...

    3D printed parts Depository

What kind of 3D printers do you guys have? I browsed around a few of them and want to purchase one myself next year. However I've read most are kind of finicky and it's more of a hobby. Just curious what people are using to make these parts

Best Motor/Esc combo for 2RWD EMTB

You could possibly go with something like a heli ESC if you weren't interested in brakes. They seem to have a slower start speed though by default but that can be changed.

Best Motor/Esc combo for 2RWD EMTB

Best value would be determined by longevity and price in my eyes. The hobby wing esc is fairly cheap and most people seem to have good experiences with them.

Best Motor/Esc combo for 2RWD EMTB

This makes me reconsider using the nunchuck transmitter. Even on the site where they are sold it reads "do not use this as a controller for your board". Hopefully they will become more reliable in the future. Sucks that you crashed like that man.

Best Motor/Esc combo for 2RWD EMTB

Yeah that's a good point... The alien power systems do offer 120A ESCs for $70 which is a good price. For some reason I prefer the idea of having two ESCs with two motors just in case one fails.

Best Motor/Esc combo for 2RWD EMTB

Right now I'm currently using the 6364 on a longboard and it runs great. It's on a 6s so the battery doesn't last too long but the speed is great. For a mountain board, I would think you should focus on a higher battery setup like two 6s per motor or just go ahead and do a 10s per motor as...

Owners manual artwork give me your opinions

1 and 3 look really nice. If I could say though that the lighting could be a bit better in the actual picture of the board as it seems to kind of stick out unnaturally here.

    Electrical switches for boards?

I was curious about this initially. If you were to buy a switch rated for 120v at 20 amps, could you not use it in this application where there is 25v at say 90 amps? The watts would relatively be about the same right?

For some reason it kept taking me to a page indicating that the domain wasn't used. Page working now though

    Electrical switches for boards?

I don't have a BMS on my setup now, it's just a couple of lipo batteries in series. But you're saying a traditional switch in the battery current would burn out quickly due to the high-amp initial connection? I may go with what torqueboards suggested then for a cleaner look because I'm mainly...

Thanks for the replies. This may be a dumb question, but what is a BMS?

    Electrical switches for boards?

Okay, does anybody use a switch on their board or do most just plug in the batteries to get going? I have been looking for a switch at local hardware stores rated for the 24v 120a range but can't find any. My guess is because most common applications are 120v 20a range making it difficult to...

Evolve Carbon All Terrain's Catching Fire!

Sucks he had to take it down but the info is still out there. Personally I think most people would feel safer on something that they hand built but accidents do happen. Glad you're okay!
