I bought 20 NiMH D Cell 1.2V 10ah batteries a year ago. I never got around to using them. 16 of the batteries measure 1.18V and above, but 4 of the batteries measure 1.032, 1.12, 1.15, and 1.17 volts. Are these batteries still good? As I have no immediate use for them I was thinking about eBaying all 20 batteries, but I don't want to give anybody any duds.

Nothing wrong with that..

I have some 3 year old Nimh i revived recently that self discharged well below 1v.. took a few cycles and they are just fine. 8)

Any sings of leakage? white crystals on the + side ?

They still look perfect. All except 2 are in their orginal wrappers.

We have a vacation house which we visit once a year or so. I'd like to leave an ebike down there, but I don't want to be dragging batteries back and forth every trip.

So I was wondering If I could use NiMH and just revive them when I come down. I could also leave them on a trickle charge, but ideally, I'd find batteries that could stay discharged unharmed for long periods. What do you guys think?

Thanks for the help. I have put up the batteries on eBay starting at $2.50 each (20 batteries) which I believe is a very good price. Here is the link.

For long term storage, you want to leave them pretty much discharged. To revive them, a long trickle charge to equalize the cells would be the best, then cycle them a few times. I've revived NiCds that sat around for 15 years and they work fine. Nimh don't seem to have that long of a shelf life, but they are similar.
