A milestone day for me today I clocked up 10,000 km's on ebikes.

I do a daily commute of just under 50 km and it has taken me about 18 months. For me that about $3500 dollars in fuel and car parking or train fairs saved which has more than covered the cost of the bikes I have used. First was a BH Neo cross for about 8000 km's and now I'm on a flat bar road bike with a Bafang BBS02 which just ticked over its first 2000 km's.

Thanks to all the ES members that have guided me in my choice of bikes and batteries. I listened and have taken your good advice and have had 10,000 km's of trouble free transport.
:D :D :D

Nice.
I have done 7000km now in approx 14 months without commuting. Just riding fun. 10 000km in 18 months might happen, getting close anyway.
If my MXUS just keeps on going. E-Sphere has been very informative.

Nice work! I love the cost savings- my ebike has paid for itself a couple of times over already, but more importantly I don't have to share the train with other stinky commuters!

Oh, and 20mins door to door instead of an hour is pretty awesome too :)

What have you learned from the long term experience? For instance...imagine your bikes get stolen, and you quickly recieve a generous insurance check to replace everything. Do you get exactly the same set-up? Do you upgrade to something that you've had your eye on, now that you know what works in the real world?

I would replace my BBS02 and probably the same frame 11A pack from EM3ev.
I would change to a hard tail frame leaning towards a nicely set up touring bike.
Nuvinci 360 hub.

Which is really the same set up that I have just with suspension forks and the Nuvinci instead of the Alfine 8

I have also learnt that in the real world 600w-700w is all you need, this is more than enough to commute at a safe and consistent 35kph-40kph.
I spend most of my commute at 300w-400w with a moderate level of pedalling.

On the fitness side I wore a heart monitor to test my effort and my heart rate averages around 100 bpm and I burn 300 calories each way which is about the same a going for a good fast walk for 1.5 hours every day.
