This probably is not anything practical for an ebike, but I was just at the local Radio Shack and they have clearenced a ton of Li-ion camcorder/camera battery packs for super cheap. I picked up a couple of ones that were labeled 7.4V 1850mA Li-ion and some that were labled 7.2V 1500mA Li-ion, Mostly I was attracked to the cute little plastic case they were in because I needed a little 7.4V battery for a project and my Turnigy stuff is way too large. I haven't cracked open any cases yet, but all the batteries were under $3, so there is not a lot of loss on my part. They seem to be round cells of the 18650 size and length (I think).
18650 cells for $1.25 new?

Most likely they are LiCo; it's pretty common for that type of battery as it is very high power to weight/volume ratio.
