darren, 47mm is super wide for a bicycle rim, so you'll have no problems width wise.

Well so much for my 'fairly exact' metal tape measure for circumference and mathematics on a built up wheel! The manufacturers ETRTO is 457mm

They also said this
22” tyres only come in 457mm BSD
(no sketchy tolerances like 20” market)

this means indeed they fit exactly because 18" = 457mm ETRTO. good to know.

do you have some links to good 22" BMX rims? i could not find any :(

Here is the link to complete wheels in the US.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/REVENGE-COMPLETE-CHROME-WHEEL-22-INCH-WHEELS-FACTION-INDUCT-BLACK-S-M-BMX-22-/271272542799

Not sure of availability (other than in Chrome) S&M bikes are waiting on a factory shipment that should be in October/Nov, then they can distribute.

Available in Black, white or chrome.

I got mine from
https://www.factionbikeco.com/controlblog/Faction-bikes-store/
They had to take the rims off already built up wheels, however if you ask Kev, he may be able to supply?

seems like 22" is very rare by the moment. I very like the size so lets hope they become more popular, and affordable.
The possibility to use bicylce and moped tires on the same, very lightweight rim give lots of options for wheel builds.
It also should be a good balance between riding comfort, acceleration and speed with a DD Motor.

Exactly why I was interested in them. As I'm not running a Cromotor or anything too fat, I needed to keep wheel size down for torque and deep tyres for comfort/wear/puncture resistance. I may still see if the factory could supply them drilled for 12g and with a rounded bead seat??...

Credit to Warrah on this, as we sort of figured it out together, like he mentioned we need 'e' marked tyres in the UK in order to register and insure powerful builds.

I built up a rear motor wheel last night onto the narrow rim that I pictured and the spoke angle was surprisingly good. I think that narrower motors are designed to fit bicycle rims, unlike the Cromotor which is probably too fat, so as John says, It must be laced onto something more substantial.

Now this is off subject so PM me if interested in this.
Hub sprocket adaptors which I had made up, in order to take the common threaded hub motors down to an M30 thread so as to run single speed 13/14/15 teeth freewheels.

12g spokes will pull through the rim if tensioned enough for proper preload. 13/14 spokes will be the best balance of spoke to rim strength.

Good news - 20" scooter tyres fit a 24" rim perfectly.

Bad news- They're too wide on the front for my Marz Bombers 888's! :?

..if you see any 20" x 2.5" let me know :)

Since we are on the subject of 18" MC rims, here is a pic of a US Racing Boy Rim 18x1.4 (black) and one the 18x1.4 rim(grey) got from JRH. I bought a couple of the grey ones and am currently running the other one on my Fighter with the 4080. Last pic is of a 17x1.4, 18x1.4 and 19x1.4, for size perspectives. The 18x1.4 black US Racing Boy rim is lighter than my 17x1.4 prowheel racing rim, and is the lightest rim I have came across. My method of weighing these was not super accurate, bathroom scales, but if the scales show that the Racing boy rim is the only rim I have that is just barely under 2 pounds.

are you able to tell us what the weight of the 18x1,4 racing boy rim is and the 18x1,4 JRH? They look interesting and spoke angle should not be a big problem..
hm you better place it on a kitchen scale if you have one and if it is capeable of that load :)

My bathroom scales show the Racing Boy Rim at just a hair under 2 pounds. On those scales, the JRH rim is just over 2 pounds, my friends bow draw scale shows JRH rim at 2.55 pounds. I haven't weighed the racing boy rim on that.

Thats just awesome,
Could you measure the overall height and width so i can check it fits in the rear of my frame please?
Will check in local mc shop for thinner tyres as i will be there later Sacko

Sacko, what size are those tires, more specifically what size are they listed on the side wall?

Thanks Sacko, that makes sense why that tire fit perfectly on a 24 MTB rim, the rim is actually 20.5 inches and being that the that bike rim beads are much shorter than MC rim bead, that probably fell onto the rim perfectly. Thanks for posting the pics.

Rick

These tyres look quality.

yeh there pretty badass looking. Sorry they didn't work out for you... i'll message you if i ever find some 2.75 or 2.50 width ones. The reason they work for me is because i use a set of honda cr85 forks with a headset adaptor and axle adaptor (axle adaptor not installed in this picture... its being replaced with an alumnium one at the moment, part of a general drive to swap as many steel parts for aluminium, mainly to make up for the weight of all the motorcycle parts!)

That's serious front end there Warrah.

Many thanks to Mr Sacko for the tyres,
They fit in the rear of a dh comp with a 135mm rear end with no mods.
