Newbee here, 1'st thread if I don't do this right I ask for forgiveness

2009 Luyuan 250w E-bike .....Does anyone know what the two grey wires coming out of the controller are for? I bought this e-bike scooter looking unit and it has electrical problems (of course)

This e-bike has three boxes in the wiring ..#1 controller #2 Converter #3 Driver (any info on these if they are my problem would help)

#1 the controller is 48 Volts I have two battery cases.... 1 under my feet with 4 batteries and 1 under my seat with 3 batteries...7 batteries????? ......does this make sense in a 48 V system...shouldn't there be 8 batteries?

#2 The motor & brake works, but none of the lights or horn works.

#3 What are those two grey wires coming out of my controller, they plug into each other, but then I loose my high-low range, so obviously that is not what I should do. I cannot see anywhere else they should go, and do not know what they are for? Help Please

#4 What is the flashing red light in my controller when I power on? Thank You

#3 The two grey wires are a speed limiter. Plugging them in locks you in the slower speed. It's for Europe, or other places with a 200w law.

The rest I could only guess at. Anything not working, the likely cause is a loose wire at a connector. If your lights are 12v, maybe the dc dc converter burned out.

Thank you dogman, that makes total sense cause that is exactly what those grey wires do when I plug them together. So everything is telling me my controller is good. 250 watts suck....why would anyone want it to go 200 W lol

I opened my converter and nothing looks bad or burnt in it Could it still be blown or be bad, but look good inside?

Also any knowledge on my amount of batteries situation???? Does 7 batteries sound odd in a 48 volt system? Shouldn't there be 8 for a series -to - parallel amp hours connection? BTW----THEY ARE SEALED LEAD ACID 12 VOLTERS

Also I still don't know what the flashing red light is in my controller is when I turn key "power on" when I give it throttle it goes off. (of course I had the heat sync off too see that"

And what does the DRIVER box do?

Don't run the bike long without the heat sink on the controller or you will blow the controller. Flashing led on controller can mean many things, Steady flash usually(?) just indicates the controller has power.

****Do this before your first post or now (it's retroactive)*****
Please go to the User Control Panel, select Profile, and then enter your city, state/province, and country into the Location field (country minimum) and save it. This will help people help you. Example: Wylie, TX, USA. Without knowing what country you are in it's hard to make any recommendations and you will waste your time and others. Thank you.

Thanks wesnewell

I only had the heat synk off to see what was going on in the controller and put it back together. Do not need to burn it out that's for sure aaauuuggh lol AND yes the red light is flashing, so from what you say that is good :)

I appriciate you guys knowledge.

Do you or anyone have an answer to what the driver is and does my battery situation make sense?

So far I am boiling it down ...that I need a new converter and another battery .... Does this sound right.

Thanx Guys.

I'd have to see and get to with a vom to figure it out. if you could post a bunch of good clear detailed pictures someone may be able to help.

7 12v lead bricks for 48v does sound awfully odd.

Get a voltmeter, and start tracking where you have power and where you do not. If no power exits the converter, that's the problem. Could easily be no power entering it though, like a poor plug connection or blown fuse.

Good clear pictures always help. Some here will know what they see.

flashing red light in controller is normal, it goes out when you accelerate is normal.
the red light can also give codes if there is a problem.
should be 4 batts in bottom tray and 4 batts in top tray ( controller should say 48v), they also have 36v versions, then you would have 3 batts in each tray.

Thanx dogman and whatever for those posts, out with the volt meter I go ...Also I got another lead brick for the top case.

Something weird happened yesterday, suddenly all my lights and horn worked?????? (with that extra brick)

Can a bad converter suddenly spring to life??? I was extatic...did a full charge....thinking ya right on Woo-hoo

Needless to say I was only teased W.T.Frig???? Why would they have come to life and now nothing????

P.S I am trying to post pics but they are too big so when I figure that out I'll post some. I have the Newbee syndrome :)

Thanx guys

shrink your pics down to 800 by 600 size, can use photo programs to do that.
It could be a bad connection somewhere, but if trying to run a 48v system on 36v that could have been an issue.
