So I bought a wrecked 2020 SR/S in the hopes of taking the parts off and putting it in a light weight car. The bike wont turn on. The 12v battery was dead and I charged it. I placed it back on the bike and checked all the fuses and they are not blown but the screen wont come on. There is damage to the BMS board but it is has two green lights on, one blinking and one steady. The ribbon cable is completely gone. I did a bms reset and I unplugged the MBB. Once I did both of those things and replugged the MBB, the screen boots up for a few seconds and then dies. I think the key switch is damaged as well. Any suggestions on what else I can do? Will buying a new BMS board solve this issue or will there be more issues? Does anyone know if I have to buy one from zero or can I just get a second hand one? Same with the key switch? All wiring seems intact, Battery seems intact. The kickstand has sheared off but the sensor is intact.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Well the ribbon being gone is bad news, that's for cell balancing. If it throws bms codes you're not getting contactor on, that means no power to anything high voltage. Including 12v converter, which I do not see installed in your picture, so keep it on the charger at all times while you mess with it. The screw at the bottom of the board for the ribbon seems to be ripped off, is the board also cracked? Maybe your screen shuts down due to low 12v battery, those tiny things don't last at all without getting charged by the main battery. Idk if you can get that board, you could try calling dealers and see if they can get it for you. There is a website called the unofficial zero manual that has instructions on how to interface with the bms thru a TTL USB adapter. It has something like a text command line available where you can see if it's not happy. You need like 3 pins out of that white connector near the LEDs. Same thing can be used on the obd port to see if the mbb is happy. Maybe you could get the ribbon cut flat and have wires soldered between the 2 parts by an electronics repair shop, I've seen some impressive flex cable repairs online, should be do-able. If you lengthen it you might be able to mount the 2 parts of the battery differently, the outer shell is mostly decorative. Also I see you're supporting the bike by the frame, that's good, hope you didn't jack it up from the bottom, that can damage the controller. But the dash should still come on without it. Making a car out of one of these is an interesting project, hope you can get it going.

I managed to get my hand on a new bms and ribbon. The 12v battery is fully charged. I think the key switch itself got damaged in the accident so I cant get the dash to come on because of it. Thanks for your response.

The bike has an immobilizer that works with the key, Idk if that would make the dash blink on like that, I heard there's a yellow key you need to program new keys. Zero has an owners resources page you can find on their website that allows you to get a service manual for the 2020 sr/s, maybe there's some useful info to you there.
