I'm starting to research motors and batteries for an upcoming summer project, and really like the idea of building my own battery, either from 1860's or lipo packs, but I've just come across Enerdel & Kokam Lithium Li-ion Battery 17Ah-20Ah, 32Ah EV Pouch Cells, ( £33 17Ah, £35 20Ah and £50 32Ah ) and thought it might make things a little more straightforward with only having to have them wired in series so 14 would make a 52v pack, the downside seems to be that the 17Ah only have a pulse discharge of 87.5A and a constant of 52.5A but that is only for the 17Ah cells, I'm liking the idea of the 32Ah but I can't find the specs of the higher Ah cells, has anyone had any experience with these at all, and am I on the right track of thinking that 14 in series is adequate ( I'm unsure of the motor yet, I want to get my head around battery technology first, as I'm only just at the start of research ) I'm currently running a BBSHD with a 48V 11.6Ah battery. Cheers guys.

They seem very interesting. Better still mate, here's the link.http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Li-ion-Lithium-Ion-Battery-Pouch-Cells-from-Enerdel-Enertech-Kokam-/331554861583

Hm, with 25x25cm and nominal 370 amp discharge rate... Very interesting o_O
I wonder, how much cycles would it have at 2-3C max regular discharge usage. Would be a long term pack?

I don't like that eBay description. I would not touch an EnerDel cell which was not made in USA (Indiana). Here's some info on those.

Why do you need such a big discharge rate for a bafang?

Build a smaller battery, one that is light enough to carry in pannier or rear rack, then parallel it with the one you have. 20-25 ah total should be plenty of discharge rate, and range, for your bike.

Or start thinking trailer, if you want to carry seriously high range batteries that weigh more than 30 pounds.
