I don't understand why people buy Headway cells 38120S vs 38120P.. maybe I'm missing something.

Type - Price - Ah - Cc - Cs - Site
38120P - 18.50$ - 10 - 5c - 10c - http://www.batteryspace.com/lifepo438120pmsizecell32v10ah100asurgerate32whwith6mscrewterminal-unapproved.aspx
38120S - 19.00$ - 10 - 2c - 10c - http://headway-headquarters.com/headway-38120s-10ah-energy-cell/

And the 38120P are cheaper in bulk, 251$ for 14

What am I missing here?

Sorry, but that's incorrect..

You have 38120(HP) in your links, I'm asking about 38120(P)
Thank you for your reply though :) If you look at the link I provided you can see exactly what cell I'm talking about.

it is amazing how much they charge for a high current 24S lifepo4 BMS when compared to the $65 we can get the D131 from Bestechpower:

I agree there, but their BMS looks a lot more complicated, I can see the BMS board and it looks like its just a module in a much larger board. But I still say its way too much for an ebike.

But you have to buy at least two from bestech.

Little late here to reply.

Ussyamoto, Headway no longer manufactures the 38120SP (38120P) cells (stopped around 3 years ago), they now only manufacture the 38120HP cells, both of which are 8Ah compared to the 38120SE (38120S or 38120L) cells which are 10Ah.

I've attached some spec sheets for comparison, just to clarify the spec's you provided, qualified Headway (38120SE/L) cells are spec'd to 3C constant/continuous discharge and 2C of charging current.

If ordering Headway cells, just be sure they are qualified cells. Please reference my post here http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=49240&p=729664#p729664 especially with purchasing older cells or cells that are no longer being manufactured (ie 38120P, 40160SE, 38105SE) or are being called/sold as a different nomenclature than the one that the cell is stamped with.

Hope this helps!
