Awesome. Thanks for clarifying. I've been new to this site for maybe 4 days. In reading through all the intro threads I saw a big outpooring of concern and support for you. It was really nice to see so much hearfelt admiration for you.

So, since I have your ear, I don't mean to assume that though, I came hear because I'm thinking about motorizing a thriftstore fat tire cruiser bike from Phat Cycles. I ran across a thread in which someone suggested pairing a 3 speed Sturmey Archer 3 IGH with a Bafang bbhsd mid drive kit.

So, I impulsively search for and found that particular hub and a 36 spoke rim. Now I'm thinking I should at least ride the bike with the new hub and wheel before I commit to a $1000 or more dollar conversion project. What got me thinking about motor assistance was after I put studded snow tires on it then learned that they grip better with lower psi, which consequently made peddling a real slog.

I thought I would post a few pics of the bike and see what people think and hopefully get tips and suggestions about the feasibility of motorizing it. Having looked at a lot of pictures of ebike conversions I've been struck by how ugly so many of them are relative to how proud the owners were, but who am I to judge?! My bike is unique in that I made fenders with used skateboard decks and it would make a much cooler looking ebike than the vast majority of those in pictures I've seen.

Anyway, I probably could've said what I needed to say in far fewer words. Can you clue me into where in the forum I can get advice and feedback that might help me decide if this particular bike is worth the time, effort, and money to motorize?

I can move your post over to it's own thread in Ebike Builds, which should provide a good place for people to help you out in. :)

Then I can reply to it with whatever I can contribute as well, and we won't be interrupting someone's sale thread.
