48v ~ 99volts, green time controller 4110

thank you so much glv, the 1000watts is the same wiring for the 900watts. The 900watts controller can be also use for the 1000watts controller. But i dare not to try to run too far, I only run a few mins. 1000watts controller is blown will be ordering a kelly controller for replacement. :D

I took apart my cyclone 1200 gearbox, which is as of today unused, to see what it looks like. It had factory grease inside that didn't look like 'pig lard' as someone else had guessed

It looks reasonable, though the smell is strangely reminiscent of lard + petroleum. Burtie commented on that thread that he thinned out the grease with a little 90W gear lube, which I think may help keep everything happy. Changing the grease occasionally can't hurt either, provided grit or dirt isn't introduced in the process.

i think it is very good to change the grease+ add some gear oil. after afew hundred miles of running there will be some wear and tear, some tiny debris will mix with the grease. Changing a grease to a new ones,(I will use a degreaser and then grease a new ones) will be most helpful to the tiny gearbox life.

i think 15volt for the yellow on the circuit board I think is only 5v only. I hope the circuit board have printed wrongly. Instead of writing 15volts. The 1 is actually a + 5volts. Since already printed out wrongly, they still got to use the board. everyone knows, it is okay to print as 15volts ( i got to try it out and see, I show everyone the results how is kelly works with 900watts, 12000watts or 1000watts motor.)

:)

I'll put a meter across gnd and +15V when I get home this evening so you can be sure you won't have a problem. I'm looking forward to hearing back on how the new controller works for you!

The good news is that it's probably safe to connect the 5V pin on the Kelly to the 15V pin on the Cyclone. If I just plug everything in with no throttle there's 1V across the 15V and ground pins on the motor. If I hit the throttle (ignoring the binding problems with no bearing on one side of the motor shaft) the voltage jumps up. I saw 8V before I let off the throttle, which wasn't very long.

So I don't know if the hall sensors on the cyclone will work correctly with only 5V input, but I feel pretty good that they won't be damaged. The 15V pin is definitely only for the hall sensors. The traces only go to them, unless there are traces on the underside of the PCB that I can't see.

thank you Glv,

Please don't worry, if this will damage.(even if is really happen), Im 100% fine still smiling for sure. i believe in earning back again anytime, just for the very curiousity i will like to know how this famous kelly will work for cyclone, i will also take full pictures on the connection etc. If the future for cyclone user will like to change to kelly, the picitures (will be taking) will help them to connect confidentially ! ( my goal too) as for the 36volts controller + 900watts - it work very fine since i plug the lifepo4 48volts 20hr, No problems tested more then 10runs. :)

I couldn't find anything blow inside the 1000watts controller. the cap is 100v, i couldn't see anything is blow or black in colour. however i have tested it again and again. The motor just won't move. Okay the connectors are still useful for my coming cyclone motor. so if you got a internal controller and will like to replace with a kelly controller, all of the wires can be re- use again. i cut all the necessary wires that will fix with a kelly or ecrazyman ones.

Good luck Kentlim - thanks for your help so far on my Cyclone build.

Sorry to hear about your problems with the controller. My 900W controller which is rate at 36V 35AMPS actually looks a little beefier than your 1000W model.

controller 100V cap_0268.jpg

Controller inside view_0267.jpg

controller top view_0265.jpg

Note the two x 5W ceramic resistors - I don't know if this is part of the voltage divider? I've put a 10 watt 270Ohm resistor in series which I bridge out with a switch (similar to your design for soft connection, otherwise battery BMS detects the large caps as a short and shuts down.

If anyone has a schematic of the Cyclone controller it would be great - I'm currently trying to install the throttle over-ride from my CA but can't work out where the resistor comes off the throttle signal inside the controller..

See my other thread if anyone can help, don't want to hijack this one..

My new design ebike cyclone 1000watts. I build a wooden box for the 7teeth motor, the noise had reduced alot to a very acceptable level. The controller said to used 48volts, however I add one more SLR battery 12v 12hr battery. it working very well, controller won't get burnt and I have been riding more the 700km, since i got the controller. using a 3 piece crank the motor need to run the 24teeth x rear 28teeth the alighment will be just nice and can speed up 66km/h top speed 28teeth. (rear) if using a 22teeth, i can hit 71km/h on a flat road few seconds only. At present I am using a seal lead acid battery for time being, 5 of these SLA battery 60volts on a 48volt controller can have a range easily of 22km range. Using a thumb throttle is best, the controlling the speed is alot easier and steady the same speed is much easier too. My place here selling 5pieces of SLA batteries of 12volt of 12hr only USD115. SG35 for One. I recommend to people who are user for cyclone kit 1000watts to build a box cover, You will see the sound/ pitch is Lower tune.

Hi nice bike :)

Me too I using cyclone , but the 1200w with double freewheel , 48v 20amp battery from ping!
and I put that kit on a kmx!

My question is to you and everybody who use cyclone kit ,
Are you afraid of using full speed when you start ,?

I ask this question because after maybe 7 to 8 rides I broke my double freewheel on the shaft motor ,one bearing missed inside the freewheel?!

Cyclone told me to be gentle with they motor , start slowly ... But what kind of stress can surport this Double freewheel?

I can see the shaft turning but not the freewheel, after 50km  ,I have ordered another one

The cyclone kit give me a great ride  , I dont have a speedometer but on flat I goes f8cking fast!(when you said you hit the 71km ,I beleive you :) )

And the kmx have less resistance , so you can go faster

And the climbing is amazing , Im near 195 lbs and the kart is around 90 lbs

The warranty of the double free wheel is only of 30 days?? (does this part brake often ??)

when I see videos of guys with they electric bike , I see then spinning , making wheelie ,like burtie ;)

I touch, that this kind of kit will support that kind of pressure , no????

hi jimprice09,

I was stocked to see your double freewheel was broken. the little pin is also used for the 1000watts 7 tooth gear. please don't take out the 7tooth gear just to see see. My 7teeth gear inside got the same (pin tiny ones) also broken. I had order two. So once is fix 7tooth gear to the motor. No good reasons - please don't take out and see see. so far is good for the 1000wtts motor.

I don't have the double freewheel kit. I have no knowledge for the double freewheel kit.

i am using 16tooth gear (900watts motor) or 7tooth gear. I only achieved the 71km/h on the 1000watts motor, 66km/h for the 900watts. some times on the road i need to be very fast zero to 45km/h or more in seconds in some road, especially for the junction (for safety reason). i am not afraid to do so, it is okay for the gear 16tooth to accept little bit of stress. so far is so good. some times I meet fast cyclist i will track them from behind, to see how fast you can go? so far is so much fun. (71km/h is tested on a SLA batteries of 60volts 5 x 12v 12hr). From the start it is best to move a little bit up say 4km/h and then can give 80% throttle, the speed will have hit 50km/h. I want my gear to last with me some times, so i will do alittle gentle on my throttle. now i speed around 45km/h~ 55km/h. ( my reasons becasue the pick up will most likely to pull alot of watts/ amper from the battery) when is a moving vehicle with some speed the stress will be much reduce.

all of us here got little knowledge how the gears can last ? how much stress can accept ? , motor, controllers is more beefier?. Es a place where all the cyclone user can meet and chat and find out.
have a nice day
kentlim

Yes it could be interesting to all cyclone user to reunite ,in one place.
To share problems and solutions

Please check on your gear for 14tooth rear wheel spoket. after using 3200km range it had finally worn out. and I had also found out 3 spokes also broken. Luckily i heard something funny noise, but didn't bother. There is one time, i ride my bike i sudden lost my balance. But didn't know anything. One good reason 22t is best for cyclone motor running

Please check your spokes are in good condition if you are running in high speed 50km/h, in every few thousands kilometers. Don't say stainless steel spokes won't broke, but in long time running high troque (eg 3sec 45km/h) it can broke few of them. I have also sent for repair and get old 7 speed spokets changed. I only found out my broken spokes when i went for a super clean the whole wheel.

cost SG20.00 for changing 3 broken spokes + 7 spocket gear changed too. Today i got to know few new friends. they were interested how i build, some of them are sturbbon not to change to a ebike. No matter how strong we can be, at times when we become so exhusted out of energy, his speed is only 5km/h under the hot sun of degree cel 33. I won't do that under a hot sun- that is really bad for health. that guy a very senior age 50+ bought a pair of bicycle hub SG750+

kentlim

My spokes broke again, this time, i make my own true wheel tuning. I use a bicycle stand and build it. Use two plywood and build one nice ones. it is easy to do!! Now I got a stronger spokes, much thicker ones then the orginal ones by 20%this one i am sure it can handle high speed, it will not break. I bought from a Old guy, he is selling me a honest price SG0.60 each!! compare most of the bicycle shops they are selling SG2.00 each for a stainless steel spokes. I have no worry about broken spokes, I do it myself On the spot.

cheers all my friends.

best regards

Hi GLV,

my road are quite flats (singapore got slops and very little hills). My travel has a little humps, I think it could be the troque 0km = i rush for 45km/h in seconds, it was how it broke the spokes quitely. I spoke to shop owner, a senior. He also sells Bicycle 26inch Rim, it is so rare seen on the road. I had order one. Now no need any spokes, it is a solid alloy rim 26inch, i hope it can take the all the stress from my drag 0km - 50km/h. 1 set of rim sold me SG145.00/ USD97.00 . I hope this one can last, I like to high speed at times just for the fun. i will be using rim for my rear wheel, 7speed spocket sold me sg20.00 quite cheap. name of the rim TENY rim. it say it can handle 25km/h no problems, but i am going 2 times of the load and speed, can the wheels accept the stress?

Rim :.. Teny rim.

(said to have close shop)

i got alot of test and see how it can do and last?

cheers.

here is the web site i found.
http://www.tenyrim.com.tw/icm.php

wow, I imagine you will have no trouble with those. Very solid. It looks like the weight is competitive with a regular spoked wheel too. If that doesn't solve your problem, I don't know what will.

Hi Glv,

i saw my rim is a older version. There are newer version for the rim in their web pages, they use normal Hub. I am really frighten it will spoil again with this rim have been said quality, not yet tested. if this one is down, i may order from them directly for a the latest version rim. i am going to test and see how well it goes. I hope this one will match well with cyclone motor 900watts. the spokes rim i will keep them as a spare in case if i need to change again. cheers !!

what is the pull force from the cyclone motor to the chain tension? anyone knows? i just worry the teny rim thread for the spocket gears seem to be weak.

I just back home, my top speed tested 67km/h (rear wheel 14tooth) (top speed) easily on a lifepo4. The alloy rim seem to match with the cyclone motor. it is very unlikely to Go out of shape. One funny guy with his SG$$ Very hi- end bike was to race with me. I also pretend as if i am doing a cycling. Less then 2seconds, I was more then 6 lamp post away from him. I guess he must be so stunned and thinking so hard - how could be been training so hard and yet beaten so badly ? ha ha.. that is Fun ! the other motorist keep peeping my ebike.

everyday will be endless Fun with my ebike. at the moment i am learning how to true a wheel, i got to master the skills becasue i recently discover ebike is going to be a part of my life. The rim is worth to invest in anyway

I guess few of us here have tested the 900watts kit cyclone for the top range - my concern how far it can go ? to my surprise I can clock 74km in one charged. i run all type of speed and do very little of pedalling. The top speed is 53km/h is required at some road safety. I didn't see my speedometer often, as i see more on my riding safety, look out for cars or other vehicles. I had also discover new route to Toa payoh using a ebike, I learned from a ebiker taught me how to go. I am really gain a new knowledge of road. A new distination for new varities of new food !! all yamming food. please visit my flickr.com, as i also post up my range photos, top speed.

my 2nd test for max range. I did 63km and the bms totally cut off. date 12/09/2009

now i build a 2nd ebike, this one isn't for speed, it is for crusing and hopefully long range per charged. chain aligment is good for anti clock wise, noise is low. but the Clock wise motor don't work for this bicycle at all, totally out, so i put that motor at one side. One pack of chain is enough long , unlike the MTB , needs 2 packet of 7speed gear chain. Small and nice, go unnotice by many people. this is a 20inch wheel size, i haven't test the speed yet, but im putting 30v SLA batteries. Since i have these Sla batteries, i will put them into work , until they cannot be used anymore, i will buy a lifepo4 24v 20hr.

As long they are ebike , i will always like it. maybe this year, i will build a Hub motor for ebike, maybe is x5303. or lower profile Golden motor 1000watts. i really like for long range bike cruising per charge 80km.
cheers!

(below is my small project, also fails.. when it speed too fast, i feels like wheelie. toO light infront)

The problem is as usual, Chain drop out, from Don"t know where? i have see where it drops out. cyclone kit for Single chain motor is really difficult to make it perfert and happily to run them. The speed is good but chain drop out is very "DANGEROUS " during a busy road. i will see how if there is anything can be modifed. Single chain run is difficult, 3 pieces of crank kit is still best aligement catch.

kentlim

chain drop out from my 1st trip, i was so annoyed. i went to my local bicycle shop who gave me a ideal to put a plastic chain catcher, it works!! Instead of put outside of the gears, i put it the other way round.

My seond trip i full throttle all the way and come back 10km range, the chain still intact. no chain drop out. the top speed is not bad, my hp GPS 36km/h. Sure there is a way to conqure the problem, for chain drop out. The 500watts need lifepo4 to get at least 40km. i won't recommend this single chain motor, its tricky. (chain drop out !)

(This is one of my reasons for giving up the cyclone kit, it was single chain kit alighment was too hard to get it right, when i got it right.. it just cannot reverse my bike, that is how i end up here.. No more single chain kit.)

My 500W double freewheel Cyclone on 29.4V LIPO tops at 40-42km/h on a 26 inch wheel, with no pedaling.

i wasn't looking for speed 35km/h is okay for me this small 20inch , i was looking for range and testing this ebike, hopefully can work as good as my 1st ebike. i really wanted this folding ebike to do range at least 50km. If can do 100km, i think i can travel the the Whole singapore (island), that is really Fun !! :D

10/march/2010, i just came back from another test, this time, i ride much far places, see my friend's shop. i run my 500watts with 36v of 18hr SLA batteries. very good, no problem. the top speed is 44.5km/h. Good, i think this travel further. 500watts kit can work with 36v sla batteries

Fianlly just today, Judgement day comes here. my 900watts cyclone kit is dead. " when i throttle the power cannot On, at times it can power on the throttle. if the controller is spoil, i won't send for repair or buy one new one. maybe things have rust inside my controller. i will leave all those cyclone things inside a big storage box.

kentlim

sorry to hear about your 900watt motor..

how is the 1000watt motor going with the kelly controller, any luck...

good luck
