There's already a thread running on that:

My switch has been the battery plug for many years on the more simple controllers.

If you have two red wires into the controller, then put a switch on the thin one.

Imagine running 24s RC Lipo with a high power controller, the switch would need to weight a pound. I use no switch other than controller start. Unplug the connectors, this can be made easy by practical location.

My controller had the ignition wire Dog talks about. A switch and inline blade fuse makes the perfect setup if your controller is wired this way.

If you don't have a plug like that coming off your controller you could save a few bucks and get your own connectors
