Standard wisdom states that between the battery and the rest of the bike should be a device to protect the battery from being used beyond its specs, that is, to keep it from being over discharged. This is called the Battery Management System (BMS), and some suggest Smart BMS 5~13 Cells in Series for use with 6s Li-Poly.
The description is scant. But it appears the customer orders the board in some "customized" configuration
