Hi Doc
I wonder too.

Asked GM the other day (Fri Oct 09, 2009 12:31 pm)
"Out of intrest has anyone used your 5000w motor yet? Nothing on the web yet apart from some dill wishing to use it for a windmill "

exsert From: GoldenMotor Fri Oct 09, 2009 2:20 pm
"5000W has been used by many people, racing boats, motorcycles, electric car enthusiasts. However that project is out of my jurisdiction, so i can't interfere with that project."

In case you were wondering, we have successfully developed and prototyped a 10 000W Motor. It is being used by a Philippines amusement park developer at the moment.

If you require a video, please tell me so. However this product is for manufacturers, researchers, builders.

One of those would be fun on a 125 dirtbike frame. Or a vintage vespa scooter.

What they look like inside? Controller and Motor?

any pics?

I would like to buy a 10,000w motor and controller please. Do you take PayPal?

*edit* I guess some specs should be good before I buy... Spec sheet, and then do you take PayPal? :)

That says it's the 5,000w motor. I've all ready got a pair of 7,000w motors on my bike, and they weigh so much less than that single 5,000w motor.

I want the 10,000w motor he was talking about, because I want to see what happens when I hit it with 30-40kw bursts.

Something that can do continuous 10kw, and burst 30-40kw would be just about good enough for my new bicycle build. (the 100mph project bike.) If it's like 50lbs though, I'm not going to be wanting it...

As far as I can tell I'm the first guy to try and make a bike from the HPM5000B and let me tell you, for a noob it is no fun. I haven't opened it up yet, but from the outside it seems of quality make. I just hope it's durable. But currently I have to either get a second job or sell some valued possesion to pay for a controller, and I still don't know what controller to use as the one they have on the website is not programable and no regen :(

Welcome Gestalt !

This is nice that you bought that motor! Please keep us informed!.. that's the best forum to share info on ebike here!

About powerfull regen controller Just ask to Methods. he may still have these great powerfull 18 mosfet controller! 300A max and 100V

Doc

Thanks Doctorbass,

sadly methods sold out like a flash to overseas and I fear I might have to learn to mod my own -gulp- if I can't drum up enough cash before he stops making them. As a die hard diy'er it's great to have a place like this to come to for guidance. If only all my hare brained ideas had this kind of resource.

Gestalt- Any chance we could burden you to pull up a side cover on that motor so we can take a look at the design? I think it would be a big help :)

Or, Mr. Goldenmotor- If you would be so kind as to show the inside of your product, that would be equally fantastic :)

yeah sure, probably will post up pics some time tom...er...later today.

Excellent!

ok, keep in mind that I haven't had this thing anywhere near a power source. I started taking the exterior bolts off of the fan and rear housing. after doing that i took not that neither the fan or the spindle move freely anymore, and furthermore after putting it all carefully back still no action. I've been very careful not to do something stupid but it's quite possible that I have indeed done that. but whatever the cause it appears that soon I'm sure we'll all get to see the insides of this thing through my picture aided noob questions.

so here is the motor from the rearphoto(2).jpg

and here it is with the fan cover removed and the fan has this stubborn little clip. what tool or trick gets this little bugger off?photo(3).jpg

Snap ring pliers. You can find them in most hardware stores.

Snap ring pliars will be a great addition to your tool box.

Thank you for taking the effort to pull this baby apart for us :) It will shed a lot of light, and maybe alter the project ideas of a lot of folks on here :) GoldenMotor should be paying you for this, because if things are done right inside there, it's going to sell more motors for them than hiding it away on their website ever did. lol

Thank you!

ok, got the pliers, removed the fan and now the motor looks like this

photo(4).jpg

I got that other snap ring out of there and about seven spacers or washers that were under it and the rear housing spins ever so slightly in either direction but has no means to come off. I've sent an email to yao yuan at golden motor for some advice but considering the time diference there probably wont be a reply at least till tomorrow. anybody have any suggestions.

oh and it seems that some of the parts for this motor are made in japan. japan has a huge ebike market, has anyone looked into what kind of products are available in the ol nippon?

Any updates on this motor? I'd really like to get a 10kw version but who knows if it exist

No, but soon. After getting no guidance from golden motors on this I have decided to wait to take it with me this Sunday to the MIT garage. There will be a full compliment you can be garunteed. I'm hoping to get some work done on the springer fork too, but the motor is my priority right now. And with any luck I'll be able to pick up methods monster. Though I'm not holding my breath, my funding for this project is extremely limited. But I do think it's the right controller for the job.

Still haven't seen anything on this mythical 10kw but one can still hope and pray. I wonder if it could be adapted to under water use.

So I figured iphone shots just were not going to cut it, here are some more high rez images. The first one shows the gap between the coils and the magnets, the second shows the other side where the magnets are pinched together with the coils. I assume that this is why the axle no longer spins freely.

I have shown these to the guys at golden motor, but still have yet to recieve a reply from them. I am up against a wall on this one and don't know where to procede from here. One guy on the golden motor forum had a problem with his motor and made a big stink with a few threads and they eventually took care of his problem but thats just not my style.

But while on their site I noticed they have a new programable module for the hpc100 controller that is what they suggest to mate to this motor. pretty slick looking and the settings screen looks alot like the screenshots from the software to work with methods 300a controller that I just purchased.

So is this issue stemming from taking the motor apart? Did it freewheel good before disassembly?

That is correct, as far as I know it it was fine before I started the dissasembly. I had removed the bolts surrounding the rear fan asembly when I noticed it did not turn.
