My name's not Joe. It's Mike.

BUT, I found this website online and am seriously condering purchasing from this company for the electric bike/trike project.

Bicycles built in the USA.

Very cool.

Mike

Check it out: http://worksmancycles.com/shopsite_sc/store/html/index.html

What do you think?

The Worksman brand bicycles have been very popular with the I.C. engine conversion crowd for quite some time.

Schwinn also offers similar heavy duty "Industrial" bikes that you might be interested in (I'm not sure if these are made in the U.S.A. tho...).

Boeing uses those bikes. The Everett plant has the biggest building in the world. It has streets inside. They have 5 assembly lines, the first one is 747.

Ive looked them over and they're built tough. the trikes look like you can put a motor on a jack shaft.

no suspension

What the F$%^$ is that overlay crap on that page. That is hideous. Never go to any website that has that crap on it. EVER!

I have no idea what you're talking about. Maybe you have a bum computer or something.

Dude, I wasn't spamming or advertising. I'm just a regular guy trying to build an electric bike and was stoked that I found an American company making bicycles.

Not really sure what you got bent out of shape about. Relax (go for a bike ride). :)

These
icecrmtrikewwheels.jpg

though with a somewhat different box on the front, deliver groceries all over manhattan. They look to last 30 years with daily use over potholes and such. Those mag front wheels are solid steel.

They must weigh over 150 pounds and carry 125 pounds in the box. Not really faster than walking but nobodys gonna race away with it while you are dropping off the delivery either.

I can't recommend this front-trike layout for anything recreational but these guys certainly know how to make a bombproof trike.

The web page has a overlay at the bottom of the screen. I hate them, they have mozilla issues and they don't scroll off the page. I'd rather be covered in honey and tossed onto a BBQ

If those overlays are the future of the internet I want nothing to do with the internet! :) :p

Mike;
When you get to genius level you too may need help;
http://www.minddisorders.com/Ob-Ps/Paranoid-personality-disorder.html

Until then, please post any interesting bikes you come across.
Thanks;

I learned from a Nirvana song (although they didn't make it up): Just because you're paranoid, don't mean they're not after you.

It would really suck if you were paranoid and found out that, yes, they really are after you.

I'm going to order TWO Worksmans. One for me and one for "the project" if things work out well.

I sent the an email asking for a quote on workman mover "super stretch" capable of 700 lbs cargo

Uncle Ron posted his cheap Schwin trike. The workmans trike is only a $200 or more and is superior. The 2 wheel work bikes are built tough but no suspension If you put a friction drive with a light lipo battery it may be okay around the neighborhood

The stretch does look cool. First bike I've seen that could carry a significant size solar panel. That could be great as a cross continent bike with a seat modification.

BTW no overlay when I veiw the site.

I'm going to order either today or tomorrow.

But a thought crossed my mind: Wouldn't it be kind of fun to take a heavy-duty child's tricycle and put a hub motor on the front? Man, that thing would race. Take off the pedals and put pegs on there, small lipo, and just use it on flat ground to have fun.

Hmmmm.....

I found this little guy (above photo) on Amazon (all steel) for only 50 dollars. I might pick one up and get busy. It's been a long time since I enjoyed a good road rash.
----------------------------------
I wonder how one could go about reinforcing this puppy (below photo) to go from a 70 pound weight limit to a (um) 200 pound weight limit.

The back tires would slide while the front wheel (if motorized and rubber) would take off. It would be a neighborhood nightmare.

Here are some "Big Wheels" for adults.

This super stretch tricycle does not exist, this picture has been Photo Shopped. I must say, I was very intrigued by this extra long trike design, mostly because of it's potential functionally.
I called Industrial Bikes and they were surprised to see this picture too!
If you look closely at the picture, you will see the obvious flaw.
Anyway, I do like their trikes and perhaps a stretch might be my next build.

Moving the wheel to the balance position would be a start. But then it would fall in the hole in the floor.

It won't need to be that long after all. It can make due with a shorter platform storing the cargo Vertically. Still waiting for a reply on cost and if they will do it. The platform still needs to be twice as long as their current long model. That pic was a fast pic made while at work.
