I dont see your battery on the a2b. It looks like you removed it from the back of the bike.
Rain and snow are no problem for the cruiser.

So how would you charge the bike if you live in an apartment in a city like Chicago or NY ?

When in the city (Philadelphia or NY) I have found many convenient placed to "catch a charge" including but not limited to:
* Public Parks (Rittenhouse and the one a few blocks down both) have outlets behind the retaining wall and under various benches throughout the park
* Coffee shops - most shops with outdoor tables along the wall will also have outlets for their laptop users, I can normally get close enough that a normal PC power cable is sufficient to catch a charge
* McDonalds - Most MC Donalds (in the city and here in the burbs) don't mind me bringing even my full sized bikes into the restaraunt (I'm sure muddy would be different) and they think it's neat I catch a charge
* SEPTA - The laptop seat, which sadly is across from the "Full Sized Bike and Disability Seating Area" but most of the time I can shift the trunk and myself to that seat across from my bike on the train. Also almost all the stations (even in the burbs) have outlets around just need to look.
* AMTRAK - Only folders but every seat has 2 outlets = )_
* Public Lights - No crap, a whole bunch of public lights (street and sidewalk lamps) have outlets on them
* Solar Trash Compactors - these have a 110 outlet underneath them, they are charged by solar and hold like 10 times the amount of trash as a normal can without the collareral damage area around them... great for locking a bike to because people notice these things... they stand out and thus your bike stands out (and catches a charge off the darn thing).. eco friendly... not sure the legality of this but it was a Philly cop who told me about it one day in rittenhouse park... they had used them while at lunch when demoing some ebikes = )
* UPenn Campus - Just take a ride and look down, there are outlets and suitable places for locking a bike EVERYWHERE on a campus!
Actually - Y, Lester and all... thanks for the inspiration - I am thinking a new App for the iPhone linked with an open database of public power points... GPS tied in and member supported (as in the building of the database)... "iCharge" anyone?

..... Like to see how long that placky rack on that cruiser you flog would hold up when it fell off the stand with 36v of SLAs tucked up in it. You could run over the A2B with a car (just about) and the batteries would be intact and still usable. KiM

Help me! I'm still trying to figure out how one would stop that POS with the black plastic lunch box on the back? Please don't tell me it has the 1912 coaster brakes? Or do you drag your feet? :lol:

Maybe the "stealth" is referring to the brakes rather than the fact that it is electric. :lol:

$1625 is fair for both of you. The extra battery itself costs $650 in addition to the metro of around $2600. It is hands down probably the best pre built ebike on the market even at it's retail price.
Plus it's really fun to ride. Sorta somewhere between a beach cruiser and a BMX bike with great handling (not top heavy or anything).
I live in a condo on the 3rd floor and carry it up/down a single flight of those stairs. I'm not a very big/strong man, it's heavy(75lbs) but not so bad even with the extra 11AH bat pack on the rear.
Bid low with the guy/shop at first but be willing to fork out 50% of the retail on those parts. You gotta figure it cost him 75% of the retail price so he/she/shop just wants to loose as little as they can.

But why are they selling it in the first place? If it is so good, why sell...maybe they are moving or something or maybe they don't like the weight / attractiveness to thieves / limited range / cost of spare batteries?
If you just want to turn around a profit, see what they are advertised for on other 2nd hand BBS / Craigslist, etc and take 1/2 to 2/3 of that...
...or maybe it is stolen goods...?

I just test rode my first A2B last week,
my local LBS have it on sale for @2200
dig it, pretty much a silent moped to me,
and i like the moped look too..
would love more power... hey who doesn't? :wink:

regarding theft, I wonder if this can be covered under renter's insurance..? for those that have it...
but seriously, if I got $3000 sitting around, I would probably get a used maxi scooter, probably a helix or majesty

3k would get the A2B & with the extra you could 'upgrade' the current setup for more speed to meet your needs...? Still no licensing/insurance to worry about...

for me, it would be two different vehicles...
with the maxi scooter, it could be a commuter alternative, gets into carpool lane, saves me gas, explore the backroads of the santa cruz mountains, and zip around downtown... (and yes, plus licence, insurance and riding gears)
with the electric bike, I would only be using it to get around downtown san jose....
what I really need is to get a job at Google,
so I can move into a nice luxury apartment in downtown.
Get my dream MaxiScooter, T-Max
Get a A2B and soup it up.
and just for kicks, a Tesla for track days at Sears Point and a Xero dirtbike.
