Advice needed about BMS controller

48v 1000w rear hub motor with a 48v 20Ah 30amp continuous Lifepo4
I need a new controller for the above.

My question is, given my motor is 1000w will this 500w controller work?
I have had replies from members concerning an overheating problem I had. One member recommended BMS while another said they ignored his emails about a wrong shipment
Is there a general view of BMS and there after sales service.
I have also been offered a 26amp controller and lcd3 from Germany at considerable more money. would 26amps be suitable given my battery is giving out 30amp continuous discharge.

It would work, but the motor would be so lazy and the controller strangulated.

The battery is ideal to work with a 25A cont or a 35A cont controller that will push your motor happily to 1500W if is needed.

The S12S controller gives about 25A to 29A as received. I soldered the shunt in mine for a bit more current, which it seemed to manage OK, though I had a relatively slow wind motor, so it didn't take the macimum for much of the time. Also, I was only at 36v.

I have also used one on another bike at 48v and the standard setting of approximately 25A.

The controller doesn't care too much about what motor you have, but it does matter how you use it. If you live in a hot place and have a high-speed motor that will draw the maximum current all the time, the controller will overheat.

The S12S is for sensored motors only.

There's also the S12SH, which is rated for a bit more power than the S12S. It should have easily enough power for your motor.

Don't forget to order the LCD and speed sendor to go with it. It has really nice pedal assist functions, so you should also get the easy fit pedal sensor if you have a cartridge bb, or a conventional one if you have any other type.

Contrary to what you might read, I can tell you that BMSB are a good company to deal with, once you understand how everything works. I'm up to 31 orders now. They're still my preferred supplier. I try others from time to time, but always come back to BMSB. They also have very nice stuff and are often first to get new developments.

Apologies - I don't mean to hack the thread at all (I know the OP was asking about controllers), but I'm interested to hear any comment d8veh might have about the batteries that BMS provides. I'm interested mainly in their larger 15-20ah LiFePo batteries. Any experience with them?

d8veh are you in Telford UK? If yes would you know roughly what the landing charges are and port to door charges of the courier, I wouldn't think it's that expensive.

I've bought loads of batteries from them of every type and never had a problem. I used to use their Headway LiFePO4 ones, which last forever. My four year old ones are still going strong. Then, I changed to their 20Ah li-ion shrinktube ones to get more range for less weight Now I use the 09 flat bottle battery type with Panasonic cells. If I go a very long way, I carry a spare because they only weigh about 3kg.

Thr LCD is a standard part that fits all of their S-series controllers. I haven't tried that controller, but it's sure to have the same software and control system as the others, which I'd highly recommend. It's probably only the output part of the controller that's different for more power.
