"Ain't She a Beauty!" NEW IZIP invention, pg 2

Well, they didn't even wait for summer to arrive.
CTC has the mens Schwinn I-zip on sale for $499.99 this week.

They're also running ads for it during the CBC national news, not sure if it's network wide though. The ad features a retirement age guy taunting his ten-year old neighbour from across the road by showing off his new electric bicycle. The boy turns to his mom & sez 'maawm, i wanna new bi-i-i-ike'.

My first reaction was that it's truth in advertising, that it's the old guys that ride ebikes. But I take it their trying to appeal to both ends of the spectrum. Doesn't exacly make you wanna rush out & buy one, but then I don't know from advertising.

The biggest shocker for me was the fact that it aired during the national news. This is the first ad I've seen on the TV for an ebike, & I mean ever. The fact that it wasn't on at three in the morning is all the more astounding. This is monumental type huge for here in oil country, like trying to sell a solar panel to George Bush.

Can this be the turning point of mass ebike proliferation, a harbinger of the shape of things to come? I'll know in six months time cuz with CTC if it don't move, it's dropped right quick.

That's huge.

If reports start coming in that ebike ads are on the tube here in the lower 48, I might actually buy one... a tv, that is.

Yep.. i was over at CTC and looked at it quite closely.. for 500 $ it's a decent deal... really.. Not the best quality bike.. or components... rather long wheelbase.. etc... but for the money it's good.

I am itching to buy one for side-by-side comparisons with the crystalytes i have on hand.. and the pukka.. and the wal-mart pocket bike lol...

Ohhh... uncle Visa.. you still like me ?

that cruiser looks like it would almost be perfect if they had an elation or cyclone motor - in the horizontal part in front of the cranks - a custom frame would be mad with something like that. wish they would get some higher wattage motors tho.... damm laws.

looks like a nice relaxing ride tho!

And that's in funny money. Works out to U$425 (0.85 xchg).

Say Reid, can you do me a favor?

For my second ebike, I'm torn between the $300 Curries and assembling a cheap, brushed DC hubmotor bike with parts from ebikes.ca, also for about $300.

To help me decide, I'd like to know the gearing range on your Currie. Can you either count teeth on the crank gear, and the high and low rear gears, or next time you ride note how fast she'll go in the lowest gear if you pedal as fast as you comfortably can, and how fast she'll go in the highest gear if you pedal at that same, quick rate.

Muchas Gracias.

Y'LL GIVE REID A HEART ATTACK

Y'LL GIVE REID A HEART ATTACK

But he acts so young, and has a lot more hair than I do. So I forget he's a heart attack waiting to happen :D

For you safety (plus, I'd feel terrible if my request kills you) just count teeth, Reid?
