This is for the v3 with Shimano HG compatible freehub with torque and cadence sensors.

BUT I'm not asking about the cadence pulses - I want to know how many poles to set the speedometer setting to. It was 6 poles, but I'm not happy with my (apparent, subjective) reported speeds. I'm wondering if it's still supposed to be 6. I find no mention in the manual - happy to have it pointed out if it's there.

I'll work out the torque/cadence after. I need the speed reported reliably.

Thanks in advance.

My GMAC and SX2 used 6 poles, but now I'm using 23 poles (the same as the motor) and that seems to be working, but it's hard to tell while riding what speed I'm traveling at.

Happy to hear confirmation about that value for the sake of future generations as well.

Do you have a cell phone with GPS? If so, you can verify the reported speed accuracy with GPS.

Rather than ride with two displays, download some app that will record your speed over time. There are many of them. Then just go riding and maintain some steady speed using the CA speedometer for 10 seconds or so. Do this for multiple speeds. Compare that to the same section you recorded with your app.

For a speed sensor inside the hub, it's possible for it to have more than one magnet that triggers it as it rotates around the wheel one turn. So it isn't always a 1:1 ratio with RPM.

All Axle v3 ... I want to know how many poles
Magnetic Pole Pairs 23
That should get you what you want.
