I created some resistive load groups with aluminum resistors to force my motor driver.

One friend of mine got a little scared me that these resistors could explode strongly if I used higher than listed watts. Is this true? For example, if I pass a 1000watt resistor in the group in the picture, and 2700 watts of energy with the current I pass through (0.12 ohms, 150A), what kind of situation will I encounter? Does the heatsink absorb the heat? Or does it explode directly? :)

I would like to know if anyone has previous experience.

I usually put my load resistors into a bucket of water if necessary ( voltage was low 50 volts ) I am not sure about those particular resistors but there is a discussion here that might be of interest.

I only know the 50W and 100W versions of them. They do not explode they only pop their ends out.
The outer aluminium shell survives and the resistor inside burns.

I use them often as dummy loads for amplifier test. They take 5 to 10 seconds sweeps with 4 times the rated power without any problems.
